Uh you need your picks for what exactly? O that's right to draft young talented players. What is Gordon? A young talented player. It baffles me how people want to hold onto picks like they have some special value. Draft picks are fuging risky. If you trade a pick for a player that you already know can play your taking the guessing game out of it. There isn't a person here who wouldn't take Gordon in the second round if he were in the draft.

 

Its like you're oblivious to Gordon's history. He is one strike from being banned for a year from the NFL. There is a reason Cleve are/were shopping him. There is a reason nobody is biting.

 

Gordon is talented but he comes with an extra set of risks this franchise has shown little interest in taking on.

 

Gordon was obtained with a supplemental 2nd rounder, so talented players can be found with 2nd round picks. Yes there are risks but there are solid/safer players available in those rounds.

 

Their contracts are also a massive factor too, Gordon while currently cheap will be half way through that rookie contract next year.

 

Then of course you have the added risk of scheme and team change with Gordon (see Wallace). Cleve have a pass to run ratio of 2:1. His stats are going to be inflated in that system, talent aside. We run the ball more than pass. We are 4th in rush attempts and 29th in pass attempts and Cam currently has his best pass completion percentage ever. All our WR's are currently healthy, they are doing fine despite a few untimely drops.

 

Next year when their contracts are up we can sign someone like Nicks in FA without giving up the draft picks. Or we can hold onto our own.

 

If Cleve would have done it for a 4th or 5th, yeah, then the risk gets minimized but you're still dealing with a player this franchise tends to avoid bringing in. Have we ever knowingly brought in a player with character issues in via FA?

Look, the issue isn't his talent, its his character. If you can't grasp that I don't know what else to say.

 

But at the same time, Cle and Chud always said they're not trading him. One reason is because they're losing their best receiver

Rivera deal is about to be up, so is Cam's. Wtf we going to do if we don't make the playoffs this season and next season and Cam don't sign... franchise him? Oh hell no. We have the pieces right now to go to a higher level than where we are

Yes considering I, like many others on this forum and around the nation spent the night scouring the interwebz for truth over rumors to find out what was to become of the deal that night..

He confirmed but definitely wasn't the first reporting it. You aren't that special sorry to ruin that for you

Calm down cam wagoner...

Besides if we were trying to win a SB it would be better to get a RT to Cam upright long enough for us to hit big plays down field...

I can't wait until next offseason when we draft big nasties in round one and you whine like a b*tch saying Getts isn't setting cam up for success.

Noticed a trend this season? We keep Cam clean and he puts up a 100+ passer rating with his current weapons, Cam gets hit all day and he tries to force things while taking sacks...

If there is something to be learned from this seasons falcons it's that it all starts in the trenches.

Cam wagoner? Seriously? You don't know me but I been showing up at BOA since am was in middle school. I know because we're the same age.

That being said Cam is the best player on this team and one of if not THE most dangerous players on the field for any team on Sundays.

Let me remind you that the only wr we have under contract next season will be 35 years old at the start of next season. You can get away with being 5'9 when your young, but he ain't that guy anymore. So excuse the fug out of me for wanting to surround our qb with some long term help.

It's a lot easier to get a quality lineman in FA than it is a wr. You speak of Cam playing well because he's had time, but what you didn't mention is all the plays our wrs leave on the field every Sunday.

Can Newton is a top ten QB and could be top 5 with better talent at the skill positions.

And again for the record I wanted AJ green drafted and not Cam. I take up for him and defend him because he's the qb of my favorite team.

Not calm down there a bit Skippy.

"Win now" mode is for oldish teams, and those whose window is closing. We are in "Just started winning" mode. Big difference between the two. Lots, and I mean lots as in LOTS, more fun ahead. Sit back and enjoy it.

This team IS playoff material. If all goes to plan here on out. We are the #2 Seed behind the Hawks. (Although this choice is open for reviewal, as they look to be in a bit of trouble. That could change things out there.) If so, Rivera gets an extension.

As long as Rivera is Coach, this team will play hard. As long as Cam is Cam, we can move the ball and score some points. As long as our Defense is...well, themselves, we can make your life miserable.

Put that all together, and what do you get? Lots, and I mean lots, of wins, and Cam a Panther his whole career.
