Does our D seem to be wearing down or am I just spoiled?

i'm not that concerned. people miss tackles (even superstars), people have off games.

 

We are an elite defense though and we stop them when it matters most, that is the most important thing.

 

Our D is great, but the Bills did drive 80 yards on us to win.

It's no coincident that Tampa Bay's Center snapped the ball in the dirt twice when we were sugaring the A Gaps.

Yeah but it makes us open against the run at times. Luke getting hit by a Lineman and TD by a TE or FB

 

 

Occasionally, yes.  But we usually run 3 LBs on first down and obviously put more meat on the field in shorter yardage situations.  We have yet to get gashed by any runningback so I'd rather take the risk of getting beat up a bit in the running game than let a QB have a career day.

Rams had a TD if not for us getting bailed out by a penalty and the Bucs drove to the redzone twice and had two botched snaps.

Maybe if the Rams lineman hadn't tripped our guy, he might have hurried Bradford enough to throw off the pass a bit.

Do we have some defensive lapses, no doubt about it. But even the best defenses in the league do. The rules favor the offense so much, that its inevitable that even the best defenses are going to give up some points. We aren't going to see a defense like the 85 Bears or the 84 Forty Niners for a while.

Guys....our boys will be rested by next Sunday. Legs back under them for a big divisional game? Yeah, they'll be up for it. Especially considering the injuries the Falcons have. They will be smelling blood in the water.

Norman was in and we had to play Beason/Colin Jones because of the injuries to our secondary put our current D out there and they don't score

Most times there are lots of mistakes on Thursday night games. I thought for a short week on the road we looked damn good.  They home team has a huge advantage with more opportunity to get ready and less disruption being at home. Given all that, our defense came up big and played great.  Anytime you win on the road it is a big deal.  On a short week on the road it is outstanding.

You mean when our secondary was obliterated by injuries and we didn't have enough players to play a nickle defense. Let alone a dime or prevent defense.

No defense can be THAT good. Not these days with all the rules protecting the offense. What us and KC and the Jets are doing is about as good as you're going to see these days. There's simply a limit to how good any defense can be in this day and age with how they're legislating the game to allow for more scoring.

In the "points allowed" category, when you have a Offense that holds onto the ball for nearly 10 minutes a quarter, that goes a long way in opposing teams not being able to score

 

Not that I don't disagree with you on the previous point, but I always found the logic of "keeping the other offense off the field" weird.  They alternate possessions, so its irrelevant.  IMHO the reason long possession times are effective is that it wears the defense out.

Your spoiled, we held bucs to two field goals until garbage time.

Watch the jaguars against the 49ers this weekend and you´ll see a truley bad defense.

Let me put it this way. Simple and sweet. Our team has been on the road for the 3 out of 4 weeks and played on a short week. They are just tired and it showed during that game on Thursday night. These guys got a mini bye week so it gives them sometime rest up for next week game. So I ain't worried right now. Our defense has been lucky at times this season. But most of the time they have been playing good. So I'm not at all worried about them.
