Does our D seem to be wearing down or am I just spoiled?

Rams had a TD if not for us getting bailed out by a penalty and the Bucs drove to the redzone twice and had two botched snaps.

Dwan getting back will help a lot but even with out him we playing lights out!!  Always said I would rather be lucky than good but in our Defense seems to have both and i think that makes us lucky!

Our D has been lucky as poo, tho some can aright their just that good. Time after time the other team will be moving the ball with ease then all of a sudden they fumble or throw it straight to mike Mitchell. Look at the Tampa game.

Tampa for example moved the ball well but they bailed our defense out. Two low snaps on third down that ended drives and Glennon missed wide open receivers high. When he wasn't missing them they dropped passes.

How many bad defenses do you see out there that you would describe as lucky? It is funny that most times very good defenses get the breaks.  Sometimes it is pressure, sometimes execution but an aggressive defense tends to get into other team's heads and cause mistakes. That is what the Panthers do, they pressure and swarm and make teams earn every yard.  Often they can disrupt a series or cause a turnover and stop the drive. You can call it luck or skill or whatever.  I just know that good defenses like ours are tough on third down and stingy on points. And by that definition we are good. Try to find something wrong if you like.  That is who you are.

Yes, I am very well aware of the insane stats our D has right now. We dominate in points allowed, rush yds, pass yds etc. But I will be honest, I have seen some areas of concern the last couple games. I do not like how we made Glennon look like a above average QB, he drove that offense downfield in scoring range on more than one occasion and that was despite Vjax being very quiet. He even had that one play he rolled out and made a Russel Willson throw on the run and completed to midfield.

If it wasnt for the two botched snaps and mistakes on their part, that could have been a lot closer game. Now go back to the Rams game and Bradford had way too much time in the pocket, he had a clean pocket and much like Glennon he was driving that offense at will a few times.

So to be more specific here is what I think I see and I want you to see if im just being too nitpicky and nothing to be concerned about.

A. QBs have way too much time in the pocket and look too comfortable out there. Either we arent getting to the QB or when we do seem to create pressure, we cant finish with a sack and he ends up completing a pass.

B. We dont seem to be collapsing the pocket and opposing QBs have room to comfortably step into the pocket and complete passes. Yes, I love me some Star, the man is truely a beast BUT is this a sign of the rookie wall? Oh and BTW, I would still take a Star hitting the rookie wall then a fully fresh Fua any day.

C. Missed tackles by our LB. Keek seemed to struggle in the Rams game with missed tackles. And watching the Game FX on NFL network during that game, Rivera seems to agree seeing how he chewed him out. During the Bucs game he seemed to get his hands on the TE behind the LOS, only he couldnt finish and suddenly its a 5-6 yard gain.

I guess what im saying is this, as a whole we have been playing lights out and NOONE is more ecstatic about us being 4-3 than I am, trust me. It seems like our D has looked downright amazing through the Arizona game but since the Vikings game and on, it just seems like our D seems to be wearing down some.

They let up one touchdown in garbage time.

Someone as good as Luke will be looked at funny any time he is playing less than like a myth/legend/god.

no first half TDs and leading at the half every game.  that's the team rivera talked about during his first press conference.  that's how you dictate the game.

All defenses ger spent towards the end of the season.Our problem will be the two rooks that will be draggin ass come December. Best cure for this is for the offense to have long drives and keep them off the field as much as possible. That's where this running game and short passing game will benefit us.

and my favorite part of the bucs game was this:  they drove the ball down the field and kicked a field goal.  flag is on us so they get a new set of downs.  then our D holds them to 13 points.  that right there got me fugin excited!

Sure the defense can get better, but they are playing well.

 

This about sums it up...plus the fact that we are still a young and new defense that is still gelling.

I mean the Giants game we looked like the Steel Curtain or 85 Bears, grant it, it was the Giants. Then we look solid in Arizona. But then the Vikings game, Cassel seemd to have some nice drives. Then came the Rams and Bradford was driving the offense well, then against the Bucs Glennon actually looked above average and our pass rush was quiet.

Im just afraid against much better teams, you cant give good QBs clean pockets
