Another area where Cam needs to improve (according to Coach, and others). "It's electric!" LOL

Apparently some people, including David Newton of ESPN, think that it's very concerning for Cam to slide the right way (if you can call what he does "sliding"). It was mentioned during the telecast a few times as well. All I can say is that it's working for Cam. He's a big guy, so I imagine that he believes his back is a brick wall. I wouldn't think that anyone would want to launch the crown of their head into his back, so back to back, or shoulder to back perhaps seems more natural for him than exposing your head, arms and knees to a diving defenseman, IDK.  If Cam were an Olympic diver I guess you could call it the fetal position or turtle shell dive. It hasn't been that concerning in my estimation, but perhaps it should be. Like I said, IDK.  Here is Rivera's take:

"We've tried everything with him,'' Rivera said. "He knows that if he slides the ball reverts to where he first touches the ground, but if he goes forward it's [progress] until he stops. Again, it's his competitive nature.''

"We've talked with him,'' Rivera said "He's done it [slid] in practice a few times, but for the most part he's going to do it his way."

Cam gets down to the ground really well IMO, but I suppose his back or head could get injured given the wrong circumstances, but Cam seems to have great awareness as he's running. Very smart. THe only real danger that I remember him putting himself in was that Super Man dive into the end zone (last year?)  where he kind of got flipped around.

BTW, note that last part...Cam is going to do things "his way".

I figure he will do what is best as time goes on. If he gets hurt going headfirst he will change.  If he doesn't he will likely keep doing it.  Players figure these things out but often think they are 10 ft tall and bulletproof.  Life has a way of letting you know that isn't true.  I think it is a non issue unless he gets hurt.  And really it is his body so he is going to do what he does.

On each "slide" I saw TB players putting their helmet right on his lower back. That's going to catch up with Cam one day. I hope he adjusts.

Saw that too,how in the world is that not leading with the helmet?

That game was one of the worst officiating jobs I've ever seen.  It was like the refs got together and said "lets get this over with as soon as we can"

I'm fine with the way he slides. If he slides legs/feet first, id be scared he'd get tangled up on the grass/turf and mess up an acl or something. Plus those players are gonna hit him late regardless. I'd rather them not have that late shot on his legs.

He has several things he can still work on.

His slide

Not taking sacks by simply using his cannon arm to throw it out of bounds

He is tall, so his screen/short passes are a lot of times very flat.  Work on touch and arc.

These are all little things, that can make a difference
