The waiver system is kind of strange. So, a big name veteran is released, you put in a claim, and if you get awarded the claim you then negotiate with them? What if you don't come to terms? I guess they try to negotiate with the next team. That kind of sucks for a veteran and I would guess the best thing for them to do is sit out until the next season since their salary should have already been guaranteed.
