Chris Harris (ESPN): "Cam Newton is good. His receivers aren't"

What? Kaepernick? Bambi has one of the best O-Lines in the NFL with Davis at TE and Boldin at WR. If anybody deserves credit, it's Wilson and Brady.

Wrong,  NE has always had and still have the best passing and running Oline on that list.  Davis being a TE shouldn't even count.  As far as WR goes SF has the shortest end of those sticks.

here's the bottomline as far as we go with WRs:  We need to stop worrying about our #2 because we have him already. And he is without a doubt, Steve Smith. Yes I said it!  We need to find a #1! In reference to the other guys: Ginn > LaFell yet both are # 3s at best therefore we place Smith as #1 and Lafell as #2 by default. Ginn's representation as a return man is the only reason he's not considered #2 with what we have. Now everyone after these guys as depth signings. Hixon is the most confusing signing this year and serves no purpose as of yet.... We need a number 1 for the years to come!

Ummm, that's a load. No matter how you slice it, Davis is a freak weapon. He counts.

Nope, he still lines up as a TE, doesn't count. He might be a freak athlete but he's an average receiver. Catches balls with his body and always jumps to make a reception.  He's a good TE but an average receiver, big difference.

I thought Herm Edwards madea good point about GInn this morning on Mike & Mike....that he is a great receiver but isn't great at catching balls over his shoulder/head, deep routes, but excellent at crossing routes, quick screens, and digs. I know that sounds like a "duh" statement but he's right.  Keep feeding him these type of throws and he'll help Cam move the ball down the field...first downs to touchdowns.

Lafell has had one game with dropsies and then that drop this week, and Ginn had that one big drop this week.  Neither have been bad this year (except that one game of Lafell's).  Both are solid, and I'm happy with Ginn/Lafell as #2/3.  We still need someone to take the #1 spot from Smitty so he can be used more efficiently and I'm all onboard the Watkins or whoever is the best possible WR in the 1st (unless all the potentially elite ones are gone before we pick).  We NEED a #1 to start getting ready and I don't want to wait til the year Smitty retires to get him.  If Rivera truly has figured it out and these past 3 weeks really are an indicator of what to expect in the future we may not get a better opportunity than this next draft to get a potentially elite WR in the first for a while.

Yes he does. I don't know what dimension you come from but a TE like Vernon is considered "a scary receiving threat". Davis is the sole reason why Colin is even making plays down the field. There's nothing average about Davis.

His hands are average IMO. He has great speed and he's obviously a great blocker but he alligator arms many passes, this is when hes not jumping up unnecessarily to complete a pass. I like the guy but he's no Witten or Greg Olsen.

That touchdown drop in the cardinals game by smith and the 4th down conversion by lafell was a game changer imo. I think it threw the offense out of whack and in the 2nd half they tried to do too much. The receivers altogether need to play better, way too many critical drops as it is.

Anyone else hate ESPN on our jock?  The minute we slip up they'll turn against us in a heartbeat. Who are they to diss our guys even while praising Cam. The rats all of them.

Seems to me it's just easier to disregard them no matter what they say. They praise us? Ok, great. Whatever. Not like ESPN saying good things about us makes us play better. They rag on us? So what? They just talk about the latest "thing" because it will get them ratings.

this i so true. cam is just making the best out of what he has. anyone who thinks are recieving corp is worth a poo is in denial and only not agreeing due to the wins. im liking ginn but idgaf about lafail, he drops the simpliest poo. we need an upgrade asap. omg if Cam is completing passes like this just imagine, imagine what he would do with legit weapons

LaFell has small hands and drops a few here and there. Ginn doesn't have the best hand eye coordination, but the pass he missed against the Bucs was really difficult to catch. It has been kind of odd how many catches have been dropped but our receivers, and that includes Olsen and Smith.

I'm tired of people bringing up Ginn's droP. (I capitalized the "P" for a reason.) He may have had drop problems before but not here. Yes he let a big one slip. No arguing that. But let's not be blind sheep who only listen to popular opinion.

Said before every occult mass suicide murder event ever.
