Cam's Contract if the season ended today

Recommended Posts

To say that he isn't an elite/franchise QB is what's silly. He will *always* say that he can get better. Through 30+ games, he's played as well as any QB that's ever played the game. Put any QB in the league on the Panthers in 2011 and 2012 and they'd be lucky to win 6 games. But now that the defense and ST are playing well, the *team* has a very good chanceof going to the playoffs. Funny how that works.

Lol at thinking i mean absolutes. Obviously I am talking about consistency.

Cam has also caused us to lose games as well.

Lol at thinking anyone wants Cam to fail.

I hope he becomes the best QB in the NFL.

But to say he is without question an elite QB / Franchise guy is silly.

He will be the first to tell you he still has a lot of improving to do and must produce more wins. Plain and simple.

100 millions?!?!?! I say give him a steady contract but jesus christ guys... this team hasnt proved TOO much. I say 60 mil with incetivies on play. I dont want to become the Ravens with the QB who isnt THAT great have all the money and have a pissed off team. No one would want to play for someone who gets paid hundreds of MILLIONS... no one is that good.

Why would you not want to become defending Super Bowl champs?

We are going to have to pay him market value unless he will resign at a discount.

My hope is he will see the big picture and sign an extension that allows cap space to continue adding to the roster around him.

But if he doesn't you still have to find a way to extend him and lock him down long term. That price tag may be hefty

It is probably to early to try guessing the amount of Cam's future contract but in my opinion it will be at the very least $ 80 million.. A person can call Cam anything they desire but he is clearly the future QB of the Panthers, the anchor we can build around. This fact alone is reason for me to give him the title of franchise QB.

Franchising him wouldn't allow him to test the market...

at some point it would. You can't franchise someone forever. And when that franchise is all used up on a player he usually wants out. A franchise tag is often the beginning of the end of a player in said spot. I like using the tag on guys you can't commit long term dollars to but integral parts, Hardy may be a guy worth doing it with.

I can't help but laugh at not resigning Cam.  Assuming he isn't a "franshice quarterback" [a term that has yet to be defined], where else are we going to get a QB with his kind of talent?  When you consider he didn't play his freshman year at UF, played in Jr. college, then played one year at Auburn, the kid hasn't had any kind of growth.  Development wise, he is on the same level as Wilson, Luck, and Griffin.  Y'all want Teddy Bridgewater?  Get real.  Hardy can leave if he wants to be greedy.  Cam mean more to this team than he does.

Works both ways. Saying he is a franchise QB when the record doesnt show it.  Doesnt make him one either.

Record has nothign to do with it man. And it's not like he's gone 3-13 in back to back years. There were stretches in each of his first two seasons where not a team in the NFL wanted to see us. He's not a franchise QB because Rivera crapped down his leg at Atlanta and against Tampa last year? How many wins did our defense or our head coach blow for this young man the last two years? How about this year? We should be 6-1. He is as franchise QB as it gets to be honest and I'm his toughest critic.

You're exactly right. It's not like we can just bring in some 2nd rounder the equivalent of Andy Dalton (if we were even lucky) and start over at the position and he is going to turn out better and more dangerous than Cam. Bottom line is he should be the plan and the man at the position unless he decides he doesn't want to be here, which I don't think he's going to walk from a guaranteed great deal
