Cam's Contract if the season ended today

Recommended Posts

Numbers and stats are what contracts are based on. That's why there's lbte and pro bowl and all pro incentives in most contracts. It's a stat based league when it comes to contracts.

Yea, qb's get the credit or blame for wins and losses and that will have a factor in the discussions. However, When you put the teams losses under a microscope you see that cam more often then not is the sole reason that the game was close enough to be a 7 pt loss.

Point is Cam is a unique situation where his stats and play will overshadow the win-loss record in contract talks. Someone is going to give him a massive deal worth over 100 million, do you want that team to be Carolina or a different one???

Joe Flacco had a 62.6% completion percentage, 3,622 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with 10 interceptions in his third year. Newton is on track to pretty much match those numbers and those were not good enough for Baltimore to give Flacco a contract and they're not good enough for Carolina either. I truly do not believe any team would give him a $100 million contract based on what we have seen so far.

Sure, but there are certainly more factors in determining if one is a franchise QB. Cam has single-handedly kept us in many games that we ultimately lost because the team as a whole couldn't hold it together. He's scored 77 TD's in his first 39 games. How is this a question?

A franchise QB can not have questions about his decision making. They must take care of the ball, make good decisions, read defenses, and close out close games.

All of those things Cam has struggled with throughout his career, which is expected as he is still relatively young.

Cam has put us in position to win late in games many times. If you really think he can't read defenses, you are literally retarded. As for a franchise QB "not having questions about their decision making", I guess no QB would qualify, because they all make mistakes sometimes.

The fact that you are spouting this idiocy while we are on a three game win streak speaks volumes. Some people want our QB to fail.

Lol at thinking i mean absolutes. Obviously I am talking about consistency.

Cam has also caused us to lose games as well.

Lol at thinking anyone wants Cam to fail.

I hope he becomes the best QB in the NFL.

But to say he is without question an elite QB / Franchise guy is silly.

He will be the first to tell you he still has a lot of improving to do and must produce more wins. Plain and simple.

He's kept us close in 34 of the 39 games he's played in so far. Some of our losses were his fault, some weren't. But we wouldn't have been in those games in the first place if the huddle had their way by signing the likes of QB's such as Billy Volek (lol) instead of drafting Cam.

No quarterback is consistently 100% perfect every game.

There is a difference between an elite QB and a franchise QB. Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers are just about the only elite QB's. But guys like Roethlisberger, Romo, Ryan, Wilson, Rivers, etc. are also franchise QB's because their teams have made it a point to build around them and stick with them. Cam falls into that category.

Is he elite? Not yet. But he can be and even if he doesn't ever reach that level he's still a franchise QB.

Starting with the NFC east and moving west.

Eli Manning

Romo

Brady

Matt Ryan

Drew Brees

Flacco

Roethlisberger

Rivers

Rodgers

Peyton Manning

Which you could argue that Romo and Rivers isnt. But the rest have playoff experience. Cam hasnt even had a winning season.

Manning Brady are too old to be considered Franchise qbs
