49ers and Pats. Which team do we have a better chance at beating?

Look man, I'm not going to argue with you about another teams QB. But it's obvious to me you hate the kid. That's your choice, no problem. The exact same argument can be said about Wilson, played more games with a good team, yet only one of them clutched it to the Superbowl.  Hate all you want. There's a reason a mastermind like Harbaugh CHOSE to keep the kid then throw to the side a veteran QB who was playing his best football at the time.. I'll trust his ELITE eyes over yours. lol.

I live in the bay area and I'm force fed 49er football. I don't like the team but I do follow them. Offensively the offense revolves around Frank Gore. If we can stop the run we will win the football game. Kaep is the most overrated out of all of the young QBs. He only reads one side of the field (which is what he is asked to do) and runs. Kaep will not beat us with his arm, it will have to be his legs. Vernon Davis is a beast but he only can run a couple routes. That would be the seam route and the post route. Anquan Boldin is also a beast but we should be able to get good pressure rushing 4 and dropping 7 into coverage. If we force them into 2nd and long, and 3rd and long situations we will stop their offense. As for their defense, they can be exploited. They have lost their starting DT Ian Williams for the year with a broken leg and also Ray McDonald. Glen Dorsey is the starter now but he is not as good. Their line backing core is one of the premier groups in the league and it will be difficult to stop them regardless of their Dline play. They secondary is better than ours but they can still be burned. We matchup very well with SF and we should be them especially if we jump out to an early lead. Their offense isn't built to play from behind with Kaep under center.

Everyone read this. .... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/26/tom-brady-is-feeling-the-pressure/

Sent from my DROID RAZR using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

Jaworski showed game film of a badly underthrown pass by Brady against the Bengals and showed how Brady could have hit either Julian Edelman or Aaron Dobson but instead completely missed as he felt the Bengals’ pass rush.

“With time in the pocket, Brady would either lead Edelman across the field, or hit Dobson coming underneath in the middle. Neither happened, the result of pressure,” Jaworski said. “The pocket closed down on Brady, he lacked time to wait for the routes to develop and the functional space to deliver the football.”

As Jaworski noted, Brady has usually picked apart opposing defenses when they came after him. According to ESPN, when opposing defenses blitzed Brady in 2012, he completed 64.2 percent of his passes, had a passer rating of 117.6 and was sacked only seven times. But this year, Brady blitzed has completed just 53.8 percent of his passes when blitzed, his passer rating against the blitz has plummeted to 81.9, and he’s already been sacked nine times when blitzed.

wow.

not at all what i was expecting to see on the other side of that link.

very interesting.

We will have to agree to disagree then. And with NFL gamepass I've watched basically every Seahawk/49er/Packers game this year and late last season. I've already pointed out my opinion on which team we have a better chance of beating.  IMO it is not the 49ers.  Take away Gore, Kap will step up.  You don't have a 5-2 record, go to the Superbowl last season and be 5 yards away from a ring, yet, "can't play from behind....".

You are clearly a hater, I can tell because I have experience defending Cam on other boards.  They use the opposite strategy though.  They use our team wins as a way to negate Cam's stats  You use the stats for a HANDFUL of games to negate clutching wins..  Both of you are wrong. The truth lies in the middle.

Cam has put up monster stats = Good QB.

Kap was 5 yards away from a ring = Good QB.

Oh and don't forget my main point.  How come Wilson with that great Seattle team couldn't go further than Kap?  You have zero answer from that one simple question.

No opinions needed.  Just facts.

That's BS, and I'm getting sick of fans assigning mythical status to events that merely happen near the end of games. Look at how many times the Patriots defense gave them a chance to win it and praise the real heroes of that game, because Brady just happened to finally pull it out of his ass on the third opportunity (helped by the Saints being complete retards.)

Despite what you may think, the situation does change the dynamic of how a team plays or thinks. Some quarterbacks have a knack for playing well in crunch time, some don't. Tom Brady doesn't get all the credit for the win as the defense did what they were supposed to.

However, under your logic, it was only a matter of time before Buffalo scored to take the lead in our game. They have us multiple shots and we never put it away.

The only dynamic that changes is that defensive coaches get overly conservative and put their defenses into a reactive shell rather than continue to play aggressively in fear of letting the offense get behind them (e.g. exactly what we did against Buffalo, and what the Saints did against the Patriots.) Teams still trot out the defensive concepts that worked against the old method of staging comebacks where teams would run four verticals and hope someone got open, which meant a team had to keep their safeties deep and keep the ball in front of them. In those situations, a team catching a long bomb downfield that didn't score would still be in big trouble because it took so long for the offense to catch up to the line of scrimmage and get another play off that they'd lose a number of play opportunities. But teams have switched their philosophies, preferring to take advantage of soft defensive coverages and dink and dunk their way quickly down the field, mixing in spikes and sideline catches to stop the clock.

I've seen so many 2 minute game-winning drives against prevent defenses over the years that the only logical conclusion for why they're called "prevent" defenses is that they prevent teams from winning.

I've seen the Panthers  D over pursue and get out of their gaps lately.

Against both of these teams, that will not work.  The SF QB will eat up the Panthers D running if they do not stay at home..he's great at turning that corner and then throwing on the run or just running himself.      A spy needs to be put on him.  Vernon DAvis will have a big day most likely as will Gronk.

For Brady, the more he is hit, the less he likes it.  Never under estimate Tom Brady, down year or not, they have a winning record in this down year.  He is the perfect system QB in the perfect system.   Rush and coverage key here and that TE has to be kept on the LOS.

One thing about Bill, he will take away the best player for the Panthers on both sides of the ball and that means others beside Luke and Cam will need to have big days.  Thomas Davis, come on down.  For the offense, run that ball, eat up time, and keep Brady/Gronk on the sidelines.

So the Lions win wasn't prevent defense. Cover 3 rushing 4 down and then man to man against CJ. How did that turn out?
