Cam and 1st downs

Why is it o.k. for a WR or RB to celebrate a first down, but not a QB? This complaint really is on the level of the stupid towel stuff....

because he is a damn qb. rbs and wr might not score every game so they celebrate whenever they can. i just feel instead of celebrating for the 1st focus on the next play and reading the defense. yall act like im trying to take all the fun out. im talking about FIRST DOWNS damn

I think this is a classic clash between the young and the old. When Cam said he wanted to be an entertainer and an icon he wasn't lying or misquoted. He's a showmen, always has been. I love anything that injects personality or uniqueness into the game. The game is about the players. It's about the players we love and the players we hate and celebrations amplify personality.

It's all bull...

On Sirius NFL they were trying to argue old school celebrations like the Icky Shuffle weren't "look at me" celebrations and were different

also, no one knocks Aaron Rodgers for it. Heck, he even got a huge endorsement deal out of it

its was for a touchdown celebration not a first down. get it straight

I love it. He loves it. And he doesn't give a fug that you don't.

I think he's rubbing it in your and Skip fuging Bayless's face as much as the defense. Like when he held it an extra few seconds yesterday. Same as the towel.

i just dont think its necessary. i love Cam and i want him to have fun. but its no point of celebrating a 1st down if the drive doesnt end in a touchdown. he is our franchise quarterback so comparing him to what a receiver does doesnt make sense. like i said celebration for touch idc but a first down just isnt worth it to me

Please explain this:

How in the bloody fuging hell would he know if the drive results in a touchdown or not....during the drive?

If Cam Newton scrambles for a 1st down on 3rd &12 or drives through 3-4 300+ lb D-lineman to get a first down, he can POINT in a FIRST DOWN direction. Whether the camera wants to pick him up or not is the camera's choice, and 9/10 he will get picked up. He makes a winning play, he can celebrate. Period.

Quit being nitpicky and let the man have fun.

Ive been watching Espn all day long. Cam is getting alot of praise for his maturity and his dedication to preparation. However multiple people have brung up his 1st down celebration pose( skip bayless, steven A, Herm edwards, etc). I love Cam to death, thats my quarterback but i do not like the first down pose at all, never have and never will. the pose just rubs me the wrong way and im always like why are you doing that now its just a first. I really want him to stop. wanted to know what the huddle thought about this.

P.S  The Superman Celebration its totally deserved for touchdowns

Ask any NFL defender if it annoys them. When they look at you and say "does what annoy me?" you'll know it's a non-factor, just more media idiots acting like the dumbasses they are.
