The best thing about this thread is how the usual suspects couldn't help but to out themselves YET AGAIN.

"YEAH GUYZ, I'M SOOPER SERIAL THAT CAM IS MY DUDE, LOVE HIM FOREVAH NO-HOMO (AS FAR AS YOU KNOW), BUT IS THAT FIRST DOWN CELEBRATION EMBARRASSING OR WHAT GUYZ???"

I'm not about to read eleven more pages of mostly wordpoo to see of this has been pointed out already, so let me get this straight.  You're saying it would be OK to celebrate a first down if it resulted in a TD drive?  Example: It 's 3rd and twenty from deep in Panther territory and the pocket collapses, but Cam scrambles for 25 yards and a first.  He is now supposed to use his Superman ESP or something to look ahead three to five minutes and foresee a touchdown before he can point downfield in celebration?  Talk about not making any sense.  And it doesn't matter if it's worth it to you.  It matters because it is something Cam enjoys that keeps him pumped up and wanting more.  Most of the crowd where I sit gets a kick out of it, and that's in the wine and cheese section (the cheap corner part though).  They love Tolbert's dancing too.

Edit:   PS - Better call the announcer at BoA and tell him to quit trying to get the crowd to participate in celebrating EVERY first down.

what im saying is after 1st down just go back to the huddle, after touchdowns do whatever you want. now im not saying never ever do a 1st down celebration. your example of 3rd and 25 and running for a 1st down is more than enough reason to do so. we dont have a 12th man type crowd so i really could care less about what happens in the stands.

Still not making any sense.  You're on a sofa and obviously care about it.  Furthermore, the fact that we arguably don't come close to having a 12th man is all the more reason to care about the BoA crowd.  Just this week the home crowd effect was prominently mentioned.  It means a whole lot to the players, and you SHOULD care about that.

Thank you.

I swear, the fugging scrutinizing of this kid is getting fugging ridiculous. Slavery is over. The fact that it's so OBVIOUS that the media and some of the dumb ass Panther fans/ That is right, I said DUMB ASS,  are looking for anything to scrutinize Cam over says a lot.  Even this guy on NFLN decided he wanted to get in on the, let me see what I can scrutinize Cam over BS. He claimed he didn't like Cam's sliding. I'm glad the other Host quickly shut him down.

Pure sign of INSECURITY.

You're welcome.

As for the slide, I haven't done any research on it, but my gut goes against the consensus and tells me there's just as much risk of taking out a knee going feet first and getting it slammed or hung in the turf as there is going head first and seeing stars or banging up a shoulder.  If he gets the first, the extra yard shouldn't matter though.  Either way, it seems like a pick your poison proposition.

a qb is the face of the franchise. he has more things to be focused on then pointing after first down.

1) Celebrating a first down isn't exactly going to break his concentration or otherwise prevent him from focusing on the next down. If anything, it will encourage more of the same.

2) The face of this franchise celebrates achievements, encourages others to celebrate their achievements, and does so at the expense of the moral of the teams opponents and their fans. Not only that, but he does it with a gigantic grin on his face, which is probably the part that pisses people off the most.

The fact that this opinionated/pointless thread is 14 pages long is just testament to the boredom of fellow Panthers fans going into an NFL weekend after already winning on Thursday Night.. Hahahaha come on ya'll this is just absurd.. 14 pages about whether Cam should do a 1st down point or not after a check down run.. Come on buddies... We Are Better Than This!!! Lol SMH..

Rivera addressed Cam's sliding in today's presser.

Cam is competitive. He doesn't do poo the easy way. He knows sliding feet first places the ball where he begins the slide, whereas his forward slide actually gains yardage.

It's either exposing his incredibly valuable legs and ending the play, or launching his massive, padded back and shoulders into the defense and extending the play.

They've tried to get him to slide but CAM PREFERS HIS DIVE. DEAL WITH IT

I started on ESPN. All morning long they made side remarks about disliking it. In fact not 1 person that spoke on it had no problem against it. They all didn't care about the Superman TD, but didn't like the 1st down celebration

They shouldn't stop. Not Cam, Steve, Tolbert, Mitchell. It's sort of like a confidence thing

Ask any NFL defender if it annoys them. When they look at you and say "does what annoy me?" you'll know it's a non-factor, just more media idiots acting like the dumbasses they are.

It obviously bothers the players. Just look at St. Louis. They were mocking Cam's moves early in the game...before they got their asses handed to them. Plenty of other players have mocked him as well. It gets under their skin.
