At 4-3 the Panthers could move to the next level with a trade.

Defense could use a little bit of help. But how they playing right now if it ain't broke don't fix it. Offense that's another story. Its gonna be test for them as the schedule gets stronger. Defense I know what they can bring against a good or bad team they just need to be consistent.

What defensive players are available ??

Those 3 players arent about need fellers, they about being even better than we already are.

My first pick would be to bring in a talented OLineman, which I mentioned in the post.

Sadly I don't see many of them be dangled out for trade.

Which makes us NOT at least trying to Eugene Monroe so infuriating.

this! I'm right there with ya on Monroe, too. Shook my head when I heard he was dealt. There's been a few trades in the past month or so involving OL IIRC.

How is a 3rd and a 5th next year too high for a WR like Josh Gordan?

Because it's a risk if he fails another test. I don't think there's anyone here dumb enough to suggest the guy isn't worth that on talent alone. He's a true number one talent, but you have to be willing to roll the dice. I am, but I think I'm in the minority too.

Dave Gettleman doesn't strike me as a guy who likes the idea of trading away high picks much.

He talked some last year about how valuable picks are and how he likes having his full complement going into a draft.

I can't recall the Giants doing much of that sort of thing in his time there either.

Anything's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If anything, I'd see greater likelihood of trading to get more picks (like he did with Beason).

" Giants WR Hakeem Nicks to the Panthers for a conditional fourth-round pick that goes to a third if Carolina is able to sign him to a long-term deal: Nicks is scheduled to become a free agent after this season, and the Giants are going nowhere fast. With money invested in wide receiver Victor Cruz, New York might as well recoup what it can now for Nicks. Carolina has been looking for a receiver to pair with Steve Smith for years. Nicks could be the one.

This from Adam Schefter's article of 5 trades that need to happen before the deadline. Just came up on twitter 15 minutes ago

Here's what Gordon's price tag may be like in Schefter's opinion

" Browns WR Josh Gordon to the 49ers for a second-round pick and WR Jon Baldwin: No matter what they say, the Browns are willing to deal Gordon for the right price. So far no one has met it, not with Gordon one strike away from a year-long suspension. But San Francisco still could use another wide receiver, Cleveland could use more picks, and the Browns already have shown they are not shy about dealing away playmakers for those.

You only like them because were winning. Those drops by ginn and lafell will cost us a game against good teams (buffalo anyone?)and shouldn't be overlooked. Make no mistake our wrs aren't good by any measure. Once we play a good team pats sf reality will return.

Lafell and Ginn have the lowest drop rates on our team

Adam Schefter has Nicks to Panthers as his Top 5 trades that need to happen by next Tuesday:

Nicks to Panthers for a 4th and conditional 3rd if Panthers could resign him. Love it!

I don't care how bad he have been. Nicks is still among one of the better receivers in this league and he would instantly make us tougher on offense. LaFell is LaFell. nit reliable and consistent enough. 89 will highly benefit from this trade. And as bad as we've been drafting in the mid to late rounds it would be a great trade!

I prefer Gordon but he's going to draw at least a 2nd rounder. Can't see us paying that and he has a history of off field issues compared to Nicks.

Whether we are able to resign Nicks or not, I'd want him on this team this season!

Josh Gordon is playing really well but he's one test from bouncing out of the league. Hakeem nicks its the prototype but the injuries...Fred Davis is a solid player but our offense is looking for another dimension, he won't get us down field. I would certainly consider our options at bringing in a WR but if the price isn't right, forget about it.

Lets just say that this Nicks trade happened and we ended up losing a third rounder. Wouldn't you rather give up a second rounder for Gordon? This team needs a WR that can be a legit number 1. Gordon can be a number 1, Nicks is a 2 at best.

Nicks isn't all that much of a threat after he catches the ball. With the offense we run now WR are being asked to pick up some YAC yards. I think Cam would be the perfect QB for Gordon. Gordon has size at 6'4" and has wheels as well.

too much risk. the guy is a moron.

4th on it's own. maybe third, but that would be pushing it. combining a third with another pick i'm not a fan of at all. maybe if it's a conditional pick.

it's not that i want to stay away from bad guys or whatever. it's that i don't want to spend too much on a guy that is only one dumb mistake from getting suspended for the year.
