Because we didn't get many sacks doesn't mean the blitzes weren't effective.

 

Blitzing isn't some new phase to football.  Some games you bring it,  others you don't.

 

Most rant and rave how we normally rush with our front 4 and go from there.

We blitzed sufficiently against a rookie QB. Rivera/McD dared him to pass it into the holes of our zone.

 

Safe to say, though, this tactic won't be used against Brady or Brees.

I would have liked to see them tone it down, and play more 1 man... instead of 2 zone.. but whatever. I like wins, and I like winning. ITs more if Captain makes one of the 4 picks he dropped.

I think they have been slowly working in a few more blitzes, and they even dropped CJ into coverage once or twice in the last few games.

 

It's all part of the maturation of our D.

For me it wasn't how often we were blitzing, it was that Tampa was picking up too many of them for my liking.

 

We were still able to get pressure on Glennon at times just rushing four, though. Don't know if maybe Tampa left an extra blocker or two to help their rookie QB deal with blitzes. Either way, teams haven't countered our blitzes effectively for most of the season, so I'm not too worried about it.

Our team is solid as a hole, but special teams kind of scares me. I think it's time to bring in some competition for Nortman and Gano. Best case scenerio it lights a fire under their asses and steps their game up, worst case we have the building blocks for our special teams future already in place.

what is this thread? blitzing create constant pressure which kept glennon from ever getting in a rhythm. with young guys especially rhythm is everything. it's part of why he went 20/953 or whatever and we beat their asses off. blitzing was an integral part of the gameplan.

Shitty blitzes and gave too much game tape away to our future opponents. Didn't like it at all. Especially against a shittastic team like the Bucaqueers.
