Blackmon available for trade? EDIT: blackmon suspended for season

Again with the stupid 'choir boy' thing

What you don't seem to get is that there's a distinction between guys who get rowdy and party and guys who do things that are either illegal or against league rules and risk suspension. Guy number one generally isn't a problem. Number two, however, is a big risk.

What teams really don't like is spending all their time developing a guy and incorporating him into the game plan as a vital cog. All that only to have him go out, do something idiotic, get himself in trouble and not be available when they need him because he's suspended or arrested.

That's why these guys get made available in the first place. Have you even taken a single moment to ponder that, or do you think these GMs are willing to let these guys go just because?

Pretty clear you have no clue how these things work in the real world. Stick to Madden. It's much easier there.

I think we have a difference in philosophy here. You want a guy with good character who might turn out good while I'm comfortable taking a guy with questionable character who I know can play the game. If you look at it this way, blackmon is the safer bet because I know he can contribute to the team now. He's safer because he's worth the investment as a player, unknown draft guy has more questions because we dont know he can play and he can still get into trouble (rae carruth). No red flags with him stuff happens. Someone pointed out jarred allen and made some very valid points. He's been a model citizen in Minnesota. Again we comeback to the arguement of talent vs character and talent wins out everytime.

A player will be given all the chances in the world as long as he can play. Whats easier to correct good character or talent? Because we all know talent can't be coached.

its obvious that they are having a fire sale, so they can get their franchise guy in there to play QB.

lets have a blind eye that the franchise just traded away a new RB and franchise LT.

again people can mature, or do you think people consistently fug up. so i guess Jared Allen wasnt worth his huge contract, early draft picks after getting 2 DUI's in 2006. vikings took a chance on a troubled player, and have had one of the better DL until recent(aging).

And it doesn't bother you that a team looking for a franchise QB thinks this guy wouldn't be a good weapon to keep around for that QB?

Also, do you think there are more stories of guys who turn their life around or guys who wash out?

Here's hoping Blackmon is one of the guys who succeeds. But I'm not about to invest a high draft pick on a 50-50 chance. Especially one whose GM is ready to give up on him this early in his career.

GMs don't give up on 'proven players'. They give up on damaged goods and hope some other GM is dumb enough to take them off their hands and give up a draft pick in return.

Most GMs aren't that gullible.

Some fans are though.

Some gms are gullible tho. Take the texans they cut Sam Montgomery 3rd round pick this year many had projected to go in the first over one weed bust. Maybe he's trying to prove something install a new mind set. Plent of team ship off good players just because they don't fit there scheme or they just don't get along with that player (josh freeman?) We all know there's risk with blackmon and gordon because if there wasn't the team wouldn't be open to trading either of them. But you know what they have in common they both have proven they can produce. Which is why team have already fielded high offers for gordon. Reports are that the 49ers and falcon have already been calling. Do you think you know more than there gms? You know something about gordon that they don't know? If we went with your mindset we wouldn't have cam and would probably still be searching for a signal caller.

And again, the point is over your head

The issue with these guys isn't so much character as it is intelligence, judgment and wisdom (or rather, lack of them).

Talent means nothing if a guy isn't on the field. And in Blackmon, you have a guy who has already let his teammates down by getting himself suspended.

And now his GM - a guy who knows infinitely more about him than you do - has decided his talent isn't worth the risk of him screwing up again, so he's trying to find someone dumb enough to give up a valuable draft pick for him.

And you're ready to jump at the chance...
