Billick: Don't Mess with Steve Smith

i agree. it's just a bad idea. he's tougher than anyone. he thrives on that kind of thing. it feeds him like no one else. you talk trash to him and you've already lost because you've given him what he wanted you to give him

disrespect is his fuel. it's like spinach to popeye.

will it catch up with him? maybe, but i think he retires before it becomes much of an issue.

Nah, I don't see it ever catching up to him. Smitty has been getting in guys heads for years. I don't know how he does it or what he says but he is a master at it.

Its posts like this that remind me exactly why I like you so much.  We differ on some things but Smitty has never been one of them.

You are the apple of my eye Rayzor.  ;)

Richard Sherman said that Larry Fitzgerald got him off his game by being nice to him and telling him how good he is. Since Steve always has a chip on his shoulder, you would think one would try to do the same to him. Maybe kiss his ass, in a football players mind that would be a little bit of a shocker.

Smitty would proceed to school you, call you nasty names, and ask if you wanted to get his autograph after them game and then not give it to you.

With Smitty, flattery will get you no where.

They do it bc 89 still shows he is willing to get overly involved in junk...eventually 89 will be on the losing end of it. Law of averages.

Yeah because he has been called for a bunch of penalties for personal fouls right??

Oh wait, he has been called for none this year and I don't remember any last year either.

Exactly how would that happen because they both play offense and aren't on the field at the same time.  Maybe you mean Patrick Peterson. Otherwise it makes no sense at all.

No, because Richard Sherman was a poo talker, that's why, sir.  I was saying, since Smitty gets so amped by himself and talks poo, pushes, shoves, etc.  Maybe the CB could be nice to him and throw him off his game.  Who knows?  Obviously the other stuff does not work..............

If this was about Sherman getting off his game, again that has nothing to do with Smitty.  Unless all poo talkers are exactly alike and respond to the exact same thing which is ridiculous.

Um...Richard Sherman totally got to 89 and had 89 take himself out of the game for a nice chunk.  It got to points Smith wasn't even running routes trying to "show him up" with wrestling moves.

That is effectively getting to 89 talking poo and pushing buttons.  So like I said, you can see why people do it.....his temper has shows too often not to attempt it.  He comes close to cracking often.

That is your opinion.  I don't know that anyone else would agree. Did Smitty have any penalties called that day?  No.  So keep speculating with no facts to back it up. He had more catches that game than any other so tell me again how that took him off his game....

What is my opinion?  Facts show 89 flat out wasn't trying to run routes during chunks of the Seattle game and came off the line multiple times just looking to get into bs with Sherman.

You are too busy trying to always counter my posts.  Sherman got the best of 89 last year.....didn't need a penalty thrown for it to be so.  That isn't a debate.

He had 6 catches for 51 yards and a TD which is his season high so far in terms of catches.  Now where are your facts he was so distracted he couldn't play........

lol.

You are so  busy trying to argue you aren't even reading or bothering to think about it

I referenced the 2012 game where Sherman and 89 were matched up....and got into dumb wrestling contests.  The game where he quit running routes for multiple plays to wrestle.

You are talking about the 2013 game where they avoided the Sherman/Smith matchup and quoting those stats and discussing something that has no relevance

So what does 2012 have to do with this year.  Why not go back to 2005 for that matter when they beat us by tripling Smitty.  They took him out of the game there as well.

You are right, if you are bringing up ancient history to make a point, I totally missed it.  I try and stay in the present instead of bringing up previous years to reference now.  I could easily say that Smitty has learned and matured so those tactics won't work now.  Now what do you have???.
