Steve Smith "Cam has gone from playing checkers to playing chess"

also: if this level of play keeps up and the saints stumble down the stretch, we have an excellent chance of beating them twice in three weeks and taking the division lead. look for the atlanta game to be flexed in week 17 :)

I think if we match the Saints game for game and sweep them at the end of the year we will win the division.

Cam was all about airing it out for his whole career. He loved doing it and had fun doing it. He came in the league and pretty much got started where he left off at Auburn, minus the wins of course. Second year we saw flashes of the same thing and yet we were still losing making Cam frustrated and confused. Cam needed to learn how to have fun being more of a strategist that is required to be good in the NFL. I think we are starting to see that transition ala checkers to chess..

Black people love chess too, you should get out more.

I find it hilarious they call Rivera a gambler for running a play we succeed at 85% of the time or so.

I get the backhanded thing too. Like it implies we removed the read option because its too complex for him now. Year 1 he was too dumb and we had to use it as a gimmick for him to succeed. He cant win with some people. As soon as he has a bad game they'll be singing the old tune.

I wonder why didn't the guy ask Smitty what he meant instead of interpreting it in the usual, Cam doesn't use his head fashion that plays right into their image of a kid who isn't very intelligent like the other QBs.

In all honesty, I find the compliments about Cam and Rivera very backhanded. Did they focus on anyone else on the Offense besides Cam?

Media writes something negative about Cam and the Panthers.....they suck and we hate them.

Media writes something very positive about Cam and the Panthers....I think they are really trying to make backhanded compliments.

Jesus Christ dude...get the fug over it.

They focused on Cam for two VERY OBVIOUS REASONS....(1) he is the QB and leader of this team, and (2) he is the guy who has to improve his decision making and consistency for the Panthers to succeed.  In addition, they also said that a major reason for the improvement was that the Oline had improved their play and the running game was getting it going.  That IS focusing on other aspects.

Cam did not really air it out at Auburn.

This is pretty much the Cam everyone envisioned coming into the year. A more refined version of last half of the year Cam.

Cam's epiphany last year happened during and after the Colts debacle. He took the checkdowns, flats, intermediates, and learned to throw a mean screen. We went 5-2 and we just knew Cam had just broken out.

Cam's epiphany this year was late in the 1st quarter against the Giants. Since then, he has had 1 bad quarter.

If as I fear, Cam does indeed gots this. Our Offense, as good as its been, is only going to improve. Teamed with our Defense, this team has it going on.

You guys know I like to keep it real, and try to stay within reason in regards to my giddy. But I tell ya what. My giddy is itching to get out and spread its wings.

I still claim the future started last year when Cam turned the corner. We are 8-5 since then. Maybe not great, but respectable to say the least. If we finish 11-5 as I suspect, we would be 16-8 in the last 24. Not bad if you ask me.

Ah hellz, what do I know. I am just a damm yankee, with Hillbilly inlaws that still scare him after 20+ years.

Well said and spot on.

I also think that he turned the corner last year.  And, you are continuing to see his progression in the past few games of this year.  You hear it in his statements and press conferences.....talking about refining the little things.  Talking about the check downs, getting the ball our earlier, throwing it away when it is not there.  The game is really starting to slow down for him.

We do need to see this consistency to continue...but I think you are right.  He has definitely turned the corner.
