That is true, and I really still don't know what to think of that. What GM wouldn't want his own scouting staff? Especially a guy as seasoned and with a long history in the NFL such as Gettleman? I know people want to believe he is making all the decisions, I just don't buy it.

I'm wondering just how much input Rivera has on these picks.

Hurney picks a division 2 guard early, then the next year Gettleman picks a division 2 guard early. Hmm.

That was part of the evidence I cited in my "Trouble with Rudys" post.

I believe Rivera lobbied for those guys based on his soft spot for less talented guys who 'try harder'.

He can't be else Rivera would have been out too...

 

JR has his hand in this stuff.

 

We really, really need new scouts.  It's pretty obvious.

      I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
