Rivera- "Stewart to practice... Could play Thursday"

betting a player gets injured more easily.

It sure is hard to love fans like you.

My point isn't that I like that he's coming back from injury or that he's had an injury history.  Considering the money we have invested in him alone, I'd've loved nothing better than for him to stay healthy.  I frankly prefer his style of running to Deangelo's, and I like Deangelo enough to have his jersey.  I simply expect him to be injured more frequently from here on out, especially since he's had lingering foot or ankle injuries since we drafted him.  Do I hope the surgery cleared that up?  Absolutely.  Do I expect it?  With this team's injury history, I gave up on expecting anything positive years ago.

Davis was a pleasant surprise.  I hope Stewart is another.  But even if he does stay healthy, either he or Deangelo have to go to give us cap space.

You said to stop.

I said this is the place for such talk.

I then said, more and more people are simply agreeing with I say....just late to the party with it. Williams is a very average RB NOW. Some people get their panties in a bunch over reality being stated.....and want to claim it is some deep hatred. Which is funny.

Please. He has been average for 4 years according to you.

No.

reality is there have been 57 different conversations that happen to involve RBs.  People blur it all together.  I like Williams, hate the sceanrio he and we got into.  Now?  We are stuck with an average RB paid to be great.  It is what it is.  That makes him a bad deal.....we still need the average running b/c it is all we got there at the moment.

So the important question is, who has more fantasy value going forward?

Stewart is a free agent in most leagues.

with tolbert and newton already stealing red zone snaps from williams, and with zero touchdowns from big plays between the 20s, williams gets put on the shelf when stewart returns...if he's being used at all.

I think most fans have no idea how lucky we've been both with williams and stewart.

Injuries happen.

Every week.

Every Sunday.

The running back position is the shortest career span in the NFL.

A big part as to why Williams and Stewart have had good careers, is cause neither one carries the load ala franchise backs.

Ya still have to pay for talent.

I doubt stewart will he anyorr prone to injury.

He could come out and get tackled at a bad angle and have another injury tgat has nothing to do with his previous problems.

I understand your vuew point, but ot amazes me that you and others are so ungrateful for the talent we have on the team.

Specially when.yall scream we don't have emough talent.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
