Rivera- "Stewart to practice... Could play Thursday"

Dwill fumbling and costing us an early game is something we had to endure.. he has since had excellent ball protection. With Stewart not seeing any real action in close to a year... I worry about his game costing fumble that is sure to come. Not to sound too confusing but I love Stewart, I want him back on the field, but just wish that he would have more practice time in, and maybe put him in late in games, when the Panthers are winning big, so he can get caught upto speed. Once he is in mid-season form, no doubt in my mind our run game will be fierce once more.

What?

You said to stop.

I said this is the place for such talk.

I then said, more and more people are simply agreeing with I say....just late to the party with it.  Williams is a very average RB NOW.  Some people get their panties in a bunch over reality being stated.....and want to claim it is some deep hatred.  Which is funny.

I'm betting Stewart gets injured more easily as time passes...this is the first time he's missed significant time, and with feet/ankle/leg injuries, at a position like running back, that's where they make their money. It'd be almost impossible for Stewart to be consistently what he was, and as soon as we can figure out a means of jettisoning his contract, the better. This will hopefully mean the end of drafting running backs early unless they're truly a once-in-a-generation player, but hopefully where this franchise begins picking means that sort of talent more than likely won't be available. Fortify the oline and it becomes nearly irrelevant who we have at rb, for if we can get enough of a black-and-blue-truckin' crew going, any rb could have success.

betting a player gets injured more easily.

It sure is hard to love fans like you.

I wouldn't say that DWILL has been playing well... The majority of his yardage has been in garbage time and has done pretty much nothing in the 1st quarter of games. He doesn't get many yac at all either.

I look for Stewart to carry a bulk of the load in the SF NE MIA stretch and the NO games. I just pray he comes back healthy because he has the potential to be a 3 down back and the future of our backfield if he has the same speed/explosiveness and can stay healthy.

I don't get the DWill fall down crap. Sure, if you tackle him, he goes done. That is what a tackle means. Lots of RBs get tackled. If you try to arm tackle him, he either runs through the low ones, and shakes off the higher attempts.

Was just a thread about his yac being better than most folks thought.

He has had a resurgent year though, he's been very effective .

I concur wholeheartedly.

He has had his share of 0 yard runs, but he still gets those splash type plays. Against the Rams, he had 4 plays of over 10 yards. 2 of which we over 20 yards. He still gots it. When the O-line helps him he does well.

Let's see:

RB#1 waits for a gap to open and isn't known to stay on his feet after a hit.

RB#2 doesn't wait for a gap open and doesn't go down as easy (breaks tackles).

Which one would benefit The Panthers more against a very stout D-Line? Hmmmm.

RB1 shows patience and waits for the hole to develop. Just as you are taught. He also does not go down nearly as easily as most folks want to believe.

RB2 sounds like Lagarett Blount. Short career. Oh wait...Stew is still here isn't he?

Hey, I am hoping Stew comes back full bore. It makes our Offense better, and ups his trade value.

Running back threads for the panthers always go the same.

Their overpaid

Lets not mess up whats been working

How do ya split carrues between three backs. (That is the funniest one)

He's injury prone.

All the while most fans seem to think one capable running back is all you need in a run heavy offense.

I'm nervous about Stewart's return, but it's only because Chud had no idea how to use our backs to their strengths. If Shula does, this could be a real boon for the offense.

Chud used Stewart pretty well....he just got hurt in 2012.

He had the lowest ypc of his career before he got hurt, too.

We had the best offense in Panther history and a historically great rush attack.

He was used great....as a roleplayer.   Once Cam was drafted.....he became the weapon everything should be catered toward. Stewart was key in that.  It just wasn't sexy.  It wasn't about a RB at that point.   But he was used very well....he set up a LOT of our overall offense.

Biggest issue with Stewart or Barner....neither has been hit in awhile.

I still think RR screwed up last week. Barner should of gotten in late and taken some reps.

I know this concept is foreign round these parts...but...this is not your old Panthers. You now have to earn your playing time. If you cannot be trusted, you will not see the field. DWill needs some relief, there has to be a reason Barner has not gotten many chances?

Once Barner and Stew are both active on game day, all we can do is speculate about the future. So far this year DWill has been very solid. Too many plays he is being gang tackled behind the line. Take out those crappy O-line plays, and he keeps us on target all year.

I doubt he is in midseason form yet. I would expect him to be worked in slowly. Still he is the perfect mix of Dwill and Tolbert that can wear on a defense.

First thing I thought of when I read this was that 3 back set with Tolbert, TE, and DWill. Put Stewy in for the TE, and that could be a nightmare in the making.

Um, this is where the conversation belongs.   More and more are just agreeing w/ what I have been saying...

you don't want to discuss it...don't.

DWill has his first unproductive game of the year, fans ride him, and you take credit?
