You know who deserves some props?

Our kickers.  Remember a couple of years ago how woeful our kicking game was?  (actually, all of the special teams)

 

 

Gano hasn't missed a fg yet and Nortman hasn't been awful.

Nortman's been better than "not awful." He's one of the better punters in the league this year.

Gano is also booting all of his kickoffs out if the endzone. coming into yesterday, I think all but 1 or 2 were touchbacks. Rams ran more kickoffs out than we had seen all season.

It has taken the better part of 3 years but this team is filling out with better balance in all three phases. Now we need to start improving the offense and getting some more depth across the board

Holding my breath on Gano.  He's looked good but none of his kicks have come under pressure yet.  He didn't get the nickname "Oh No Gano" in Washington because of his clutch kicks.  

 

Kasay was great because he was always clutch under pressure.  Can't even count how many game-winning FG's he made in his career.

What you worry about with a young guy like Gano is those pressure kicks. We haven't asked him to save our season with 2 seconds left in the game.

I was listening to a former GM give an interview and he said kickers need to get cut several times to lose the fear of getting cut. Once they get over that paranoia he felt like they were tempered for the pressure.
