Sizing up the next 10 weeks.

By some magic that Panthers have gotten themselves to a "in the mix' 3-3. This is mostly a good thing. That said I fear we have missed our chance at finishing the year with a winning record. The Buffalo Loss and the Zona loss would have given us a very nice cushion as we head into the meat of our schedule.  Lets look ahead and prognosticate what "May" become.

  • @Bucs
  • Falcons
  • @Niners
  • Patriots
  • @Dolphins
  • Bucs
  • @Saints
  • Jets
  • Saints
  • @Falcons

Looking at that, the fan in me wants to to say oh we can get 10-6 if we steal a few. I ask you where do we "steal" a win?

@Bucs - W We honestly should completely destroy the Buc's Thursday night. Martin isn't playing, Glennon is horrible. If they score we should demand a player commit seppuku to atone for the dishonor.

Falcons - W  If Julio was not on IR I would likely give this one to the Falgoons. Steven Jackson may be back by this game, but it was reported he had a setback. The deciding factor will be our pass rush. The Falcons OLine could be worse than ours. Byron Bell might be better than their RT.  It will be close and I will be at this game which gives the Falcons an advantage, but it's a get away weekend for me and the wife and Kurb loves sexy time so fug yall I'm going to Charlotte.

@-Niners- I expect a sober knocker early and they pull away late. I'm not worried about their run game, I'm worried about their Defense beating our Offense in the ground.

Patriots, MNF- Who stops Gronk?  Brady is Brady and it's MNF. Do we really think Rivera and Co can play chess with BilliCheat?

@Dolphins. -50/50 L?  Panthers have never won in Miami. True story. This is a toss up game tho.

Bucs- We do Tampa a favor and rid them of Schiano.

@Saints - L  Saints are almost unbeatable in the Dome.

Jets - 50/50 L? The other toss up. Jet's defense is dominant. I don't trust out O-Line to stop their front 7 in any fashion. That said, I could see this turning into another Rams like game. Which (amazingly enough) seems to help this team.

Saints ? The Saints could very well have the NFC locked up at this point. If they are sitting people we can steal a win. If not they will likely beat us. Bree's is going to feast on our secondary.

@ Falcons Honestly, no matter what our record at this point I think we completely punk the Falcons at home. Cam has yet to win there, we have had two wins stolen, and the Falcons are about 2 losses away from a complete meltdown.

So looking at all this. Anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6 is within reason.

What say you huddle?

i wouldn't be surprised if we upset the niners and patriots at this point.

This was a big time win not just because of the record but for setting the tone for the rest of the season. These guys are out for blood. They are tired of being poo on in the media and by fans.

Or maybe that is just how i feel lol

Not to be a dick, but I'm conditioned to say thats just how you feel as a fan.

By thinking that you are saying :

"Mike Shula's offense can score 25+ points a game on any defense"

"The Panthers secondary can contain any WR corps + QB combo"

"The Panthers coaching staff can match wits with any other NFL staff"

and a few more about our WR's, QB, and on and on.

I just can't believe that strong anymore.....I've been hurt to many times! :D

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
