Last week the Panthers played a very efficient offensive game with excellent run/pass balance, and great diversity and multiplicity of concepts. A big part of that offensive plan was taking advantage of quarterback Cam Newton's strengths as a runner.

One of the most interesting concepts involving Newton in the run game came in the second quarter against Minnesota, on a well-designed quarterback sweep. That's a play you don't see often.

I liked the Seattle game plan and the Viking one as well. Buffalo, not so much.

 

One of the keys to our offensive production is the use of Cam as a runner and a passer. I don't give a damn what Gettleman says, Shula needs to not take that QB run element away just because some old guy thinks the only good QB's are strictly pocket QB's.

It just means we should play to his strengths, like any good coach will do with their QB. Care to explain how such a concept is quickly becoming "one of the worst and dumbest cliches as of late"?

Have to disagree. Most of the games have come down to execution of the players. Shula has made questionable calls but execution of the plays via players has been terrible. Shula has been decent imo.
