This is pathetic.

Did anyone see the hit in the Ohio St game.  The DB Roby 5'11" turned around and unloaded with his shoulder on the Iowa Tight End Fiedorowicz 6'7" and was flagged.  It was a solid tackle and the helmet wasn't used.  They said they were reviewing it in the booth and before they could finish the statement about the review they came back and said it was confirmed.

Good God it was solid hit.  The guy has 8 inches on him.  All the announcers were fussing about was about how he should have wrapped him up instead.  Easier said than done in a split second.

It was a terrible call just like the GIF above.

There HAS to come a point where we stop trying to legistlate hits out of football. There HAS to come a point where we accept our game is what it is.

That will come when former players stop trying to sue because they aren't getting taken care of. It'll come when players expect to be able to beat on one another and get taken care of no matter who foots the bill as long as it isn't them. It'll come when fans give a damn about players instead of seeing them as puppets of entertaining destruction.

AKA never.

It wasn't vicious, but it was a chippy "here I am" hit. It's pretty clear he could have pulled up and he didn't. Add the head contact and there you go. Crappy college refs are gonna call that.

So you're saying that the kid deserved to be ejected?

I can see calling the penalty...  he could have pulled up and not hit the QB there, so even though such calls are very subjective, I agree that it was probably a personal foul, but ejection?

I don't think it was correct in this case or in the Clemson game.

Is that what you got out of me saying it was baffling that it was upheld?

Re: Clemson game: If launching yourself head first into a helmet to helmet hit after the QB got rid of the ball isn't targeting, I'm not real sure what is.

They called targeting on a Clemson player when he launched himself at a defenseless QB and rammed his helmet into Winson's head.

LET EM PLAY REF

that play and the play in the gif was 2 different cases. clemson #17 did lanch himself and lead with his helmet so that call was correct. but georgia #47 pulled up on the qb, and did not launch with his helmet so he should have been able to return into the game after reviewing.

You seemed to be saying the call was justified... And therefore the penalty and ejection...

the game is already pussified from where it started.

originally there was no coming back in if you ever left the field

there was no "down"  there was stop of forward progress.  every play ended in piling on and taking shots on the ground

there were no helmets and the year they changed most of these rules 26 (iirc, maybe 29) players died on the field in CFB.  Football was almost over before any of our parents were born.

now we have to fight the refs and their ridiculous, clown-like ineptitude, but at least we have Football at all
