Ideal 1st Round Pick for Carolina [UPDATED]

I watch every Clemson game and while I agree that Watkins isn't a can't miss prospect I would be very happy to get him in the bottom half of the first round, which I doubt will happen because when he runs a 4.3 40 at the combine there will be no way he lasts beyond the top 12 picks, IMO.  I would be very interested in seeing a foot race between him and Ginn.  That's how fast he looks on the field.

Players like that win your oh so sacred jump balls on so much more than height. Again, Smith was one of the best jump ball wideouts in the league for years. The difference between a 6'4" player and 6'2" one is negligible. Height has virtually nothing to do with body control and boxing a player out for a high ball. If you wish to look at measurables, vert, reach, and arguably even hand measurement could all be better indicators of a player's ability to go up and get balls are all more useful to the player.

Height being some dream quality wideout is a fantasy for fans and their espn player page scouting reports.

Short and smaller and a beast, or tall and bigger and a beast, give me the tall guy.  Even if it doesn't make sense from an intellectual standpoint, it just feels better from an emotional standpoint.

Now does that mean I am taking Mike Evans over Sammy Watkins? Absolutely not.

I definetly wouldn't mind seeing Watkins come to us... But with all the guys in the draft offensive line is where we need to guy, give cam time he can be effective no matter who is catching the ball...we are a run first team, so with that said I wouldn't mind seeing gettleman double dip again on oline and with his track record on judging talent we could stack up the front on both sides of the ball for years to come...if not take a WR second or or BPA being either corners wide outs and possible another TE for our 12 personnel boyyyyyy I would go nuts if we ****** EBRON from UNC BIG FAST STRONG AND GREAT HANDS...that's my two cents

If he gets Nicks for a fair deal then I'll be thrilled. First round we grab a LT, and then move Gross to RT. That would be it for what we need on the o-line. Remember we have RG Williams, RG Kigbila, and LG Amini coming back next season, and we can sign Gross for another season for cheap. Also if Wharton continues to play well, then we can offer him another one year contract to back up Amini at LG.

Second round we can turn our attention to WR, DB, or whichever player is highest on our board.

That could be disastrous too.  You sign your long time vets who are declining in skill and rely on three players coming off injury.

Next thing you know Cam is running for his life like Eli and Ryan are doing this year.

I was thrilled to get Wharton back and Gross is an all time favorite but both of them are starting to get long in the tooth.   We have to have a frontline OT soon.  I don't believe we should reach but I also think if you have an equally valued OT and WR you take the OT because what we have at WR is adequate and can be address through Free Agency.

I wouldn't mind getting B. Albert from Foxie if they would part with him.

I want to draft our future LT in the first round of this upcoming draft. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a RT in the second round, and moving Bell to the bench and a cheap contract. CB and WR would also be in consideration, but I prefer FA WRs.

Our coaches will evaluate Gross and Wharton as the season moves along to see if there is a decline in play, and also find out their intentions for next season. Maybe they're done after this season. Who knows? Draft plans will change on the fly. Our medical experts and trainers can keep a close eye on our injured OGs. I would take a calculated risk that they going to return. If I got burned, then the trainers and doctors would to be on the hot seat. I'd send Gettlegut to find some OGs in FA. He had no trouble finding FA OGs this season, and they're doing fine.

Following around campus? Maybe he should stop following the things that will get his immature ass in trouble. He plays for a over rated team.. just watch FSU game if you don't believe that. You guys get caught up on the "local" guys. Armanti ect. I see most of the games.. and he has a big play 1 out of 50 times. He plays in the ACC. He dosen't do his school work. I can go on forever. There are MUCH better options for cam to throw to. Evans is legit. Vandy has a awesome WR that is very pro style. Look at Southern Cal. Theres plenty of better long term options for solid plays every down. Not once in a blue moon for a specialty player.

He's a 19 year old kid who got busted for weed and at the time had a 3.5 GPA.  Give me a break.

Clemson was overrated but they're still a top 10-15 team and Sammy will be a first round pick because he has the skills to be really good in the NFL.  I hope others think like you do and he drops far enough the Panthers could get him.  I think his ceiling is pick 5-8 and his floor is 17-20.  He's a smart football player with track speed.  Exactly what the Panthers need for Cam to stretch that defense.  He fits our offense scheme perfectly.  I really think his 40 time will push him into the top 10.
