Ideal 1st Round Pick for Carolina [UPDATED]

But what can he do other than curl and catch or swing out? Thats not a number 1 or 2 WR. The best WR to come out of Clemson was Hopkins.. Now thats a WR.

His and Lee's route trees are probably the most complete of any potential first round Receivers...

I have seen him run more then just a curl or a swing route. post corners, verticals, double moves, I have seen him run plenty of routes on different levels. the swing route is to get the ball in his hand quickly so he can make plays.

IMO the most complete WR in this draft is the dude in your profile pic. We may benefit from Moncrief having a crappy QB and not getting as much attention as some of these other guys. I don't think it will be a reach if we ended up drafting in the early 20's and picked him. I assume all the top OL guys will go in the first 15 picks or so.

...and yet you were adamant about Alshon Jeffrey when he was coming out. SO much so that you dubbed him the best wr in college football. Who is known for only one thing. Jump balls. lol. Growl, dude...lol.

Lol is a shameful indictment on your familiarity with a player really your defense? (especially one who is proving me correct  nice job Ivan lolololol)

I am not saying that there isn't some truth to your general contention, but Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones and A.J. Green (Jimmy Graham and Rob) among some up-and-comers answers your question as to why Huddlers, coaches and GMs covet a talented tall wide-out.

Players like that win your oh so sacred jump balls on so much more than height. Again, Smith was one of the best jump ball wideouts in the league for years. The difference between a 6'4" player and 6'2" one is negligible. Height has virtually nothing to do with body control and boxing a player out for a high ball. If you wish to look at measurables, vert, reach, and arguably even hand measurement could all be better indicators of a player's ability to go up and get balls are all more useful to the player.

Height being some dream quality wideout is a fantasy for fans and their espn player page scouting reports.

Nooooooooooo..... Ill flip if we spend our first pick on him. Yes he is fast and can make big plays... but thats once out of 100. He dosent have great hands.. Clemson uses him a lot with screens.. thats the only big plays he has. He wears a grille constantly around campus.. been in trouble a few times and still hasnt learned his lesson. I see this first hand monthly. We need a big pure WR. He's really not that great.

You need to watch him more in a game and less following him around campus.

He's got elite speed and he's not undersized.  Can separate and catch balls in traffic.  They use him a lot in screens not because he can't run routes but because with his speed and athleticism it's a way to get easy yards.

His freshmen year it was all about him.  In 2011 Sammy has 82 catches for 1219 yards and 82 TDs. Hopkins had 72 catches for 978 yards and 5 TD's.  Sammy was the home run thread and Hopkins was the underneath, move the chains guy.

When Sammy had legal and injury troubles the next year it was Hopkins chance to step up and he did in a major way.  He's a great receiver too and might turn out to be a better pro than Sammy but in college no one thought Hopkins was better than Sammy when they were on the field together.

Following around campus? Maybe he should stop following the things that will get his immature ass in trouble. He plays for a over rated team.. just watch FSU game if you don't believe that. You guys get caught up on the "local" guys. Armanti ect. I see most of the games.. and he has a big play 1 out of 50 times. He plays in the ACC. He dosen't do his school work. I can go on forever. There are MUCH better options for cam to throw to. Evans is legit. Vandy has a awesome WR that is very pro style. Look at Southern Cal. Theres plenty of better long term options for solid plays every down. Not once in a blue moon for a specialty player.
