Ideal 1st Round Pick for Carolina [UPDATED]

Cyrus Kouandjio or Cameron Eriving... my guess is they will still be around when we draft!   There won't be a good WR around our pick so we go OT first round and WR second with Jordan Matthew, but i wouldn't be heartbroken if we doubled down on O-line like we did with D-Line last year!

You realize how fuging lazy that comparison is don't you?

Pssht. It probably took him an hour to figure out they played the same position at the same school.

Yes, if I was making a comparison.  I was just jokingly referring to the bad-luck teams have had with USC wide receivers of late.  Not saying he's going to be Dwayne Jarrett.  I know he's a completely different person and a truly gifted wide-out.  But then again, you never now when projecting to the NFL, so I'd say "wait and see"...

edit: what was lazy was the attempt at making clear it was a joke derp

Just like I was "ignorant" for saying that Lee's injury might be a little worse than was being said and suggesting he may miss at least one game?

He came back and tweaked it again. You were making it sound like he was going to fall in the draft because of his injury. His injury isn't significant enough to alter his draft stock, what's going to make him fall is his teams QB and OL play....

I'd want Wakins or Ebrons in the 1st.  I'm a big tiger fan and I've watched every game Sammy has played.  He is the real deal.  His freshman year when he and Hopkins were on the field at the same time he was head and shoulders better than Nuke and I love Nuke too.  Sammy is a football guy with track speed and has very good hands.  Really attacks the ball.

He seems to really have hit the weights since he's been at Clemson.  He's much thicker and solid now.  Looks like an NFL player.

Lol why is it every time there is a thread about a good WR prospect somebody says "Well I mean I'd rather have that really tall guy, really tall guys are just so awesome."

Tall lanky jumpball receivers are a dying breed. People prize talent over height instead, and given that most corners are under 6 foot, teams aren't seeing any drawbacks to it. There isn't a 6'4" wideout in the country who is more naturally talented than Watkins and anybody who would make a decision based on something so relatively insignificant to the total package is stuck in the past.

I am not saying that there isn't some truth to your general contention, but Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones and A.J. Green (Jimmy Graham and Rob) among some up-and-comers answers your question as to why Huddlers, coaches and GMs covet a talented tall wide-out.

Assuming we have a solid rest of the year and slide into the playoffs we would end up picking around 20.  I know it's early for draft rankings but when you look at who is projected to be available at 20 it doesn't look like somebody like Watkins or Ebron will still be available.  There are, however, a couple of OT's in that range so unless somebody falls that may be where we go.  There are also some CB's in that range but I have a hard time seeing Gettleman going with anything other than a WR/TE or OT with the first pick and I, like most of the rest of you, would be OK with the BPA of those positions being picked.

Klein is probably never going to be a first day starter.

Just curious...what makes you say this?

Have there been reports suggesting he isn't progressing? I've heard nothing other than he was considered by many to be a promising prospect post-draft.

I meant to elaborate--did not know this was all I wrote.  Good question...A friend of mine who played LB at UNC and was on a practice squad for a year told me that he saw a lot of the same limitations in Klein that he had--lateral agility, mainly.  He said Klein would never be able to live up to the Davis/Keuchly standard, but he would be a great special team player and depth guy.  He said, however, that he would have thought the same thing about Blackburn, so his view is not without contradiction.
