Behind Enemy Lines - St Louis Rams

Zod

Recommended Posts

yep, Buffalo, St. Louis and NE are the toughest matchups for our D IMO.

Rams D stinks.  If we can run and stay out of 3rd and long....I don't think they can stop our O.  Our offense gets in trouble when we get behind in the chains.  Consistent 3rd and longs vs a team that can bring pressure has been a problem every year

brockers and quinn scare the poo out of me. for some reason i'm not as worried about long.  O-line plays well we will win.

If the Panthers play smart (no turnovers, few penalties), I don't see the Rams winning this one.

I do expect Fisher to fake FG, fake punt, or something.....he always seemed to do it against the Panthers when he was at Tenn.

Z.Stacey is a capable back who does fall forward for those extra yards. But some of that mess last week was an awful game by the Texans. Personal fouls, offsides/encroachments.....Texans had almost 100yds of penalties in the first half. And my complaint about the Texans D....you have JJWatt and NO ONE ELSE on your Dline or outside linebackers can get any consistent pressure.

btw....Rams fans....Jeff Fisher owns the Texans....he's only lost to them 3 or 4 times during his entire tenure at Tenn, IIRC.

But again with AZ...coaches had a great gameplan to open offensively and defensively....players didn't execute.  We should of been up.  Coaches could of adjusted in the 2nd half more, but the players had already been proven to be a wildcard that couldn't even do gimmie stuff when put in easy scenarios.  It should of been one of those games we rolled and played from a huge lead.

Buffalo is the only game I put on coaches.   1 loss coaches, 2 losses players IMO.  Coaching hasn't been as bad as some have advertised IMO.  There has been a lot of slop our players have done when put in good position this year to win games

We were still up at half time of the Arizona game.  They came out and shut us out.  We never alter our game plan in the second half.  The had an answer for everything we tried.  You think that was all execution?  Had our coaches (Rivera and Shula) to be exact.  Had done some half time adjustment and even in game adjustments.  We could have won that game.  They didn't and we lost.

Sure the end didn't help when we started pressing to score and only gave them more points.   Had we made adjustments to how they were playing us we would have done better.

I put it opposite of you 1 for the players 2 on the coaches.

We haven't won a close one yet.  if the game plan is good we win, if it isn't a good game plan then we struggle.  That is on the coaches especially OC and HC,

we had over 250 yards on offense in the first half, a 500 yard pace, not sure why they would have thought we needed adjustments other than finishing drives.  The only thing that kills me in the adjustment department, are the fact that it seemed they relentlessly brought pressure up the middle in the second half after doing it a couple times in the first.  That is something that has to be done on the sideline and I can't recall too often they've been able to do that.

chances smith and finnegan go at it?

i'd say 90%

the rams' defense seems pretty bad to be completely honest with you. they seem to get gashed on the ground just about every week. i think we run wild and cam has an efficient 3 TD game. their fans seem to think their run game is going to be what saves them, but they have an unheralded rookie who hasn't reached 80 yards against two absolutely terrible run Ds. we have a top 5 run defense in the league. they have no big-time receivers to abuse our young secondary.

the single thing that worries me is their pass rush. we have players like byron bell who are fully capable of getting abused for 4 sack games. outside of that, i'd say the matchup favors us pretty heavily.

Good point but any decent OC is going to see what adjustments the other team made and counter it.  You are correct we suck at in game adjustments as well as half time adjustments.

Like I said Arizona made half time adjustments and we never countered.  That is on the coaches.

90% is a sad number if Finnegan plays

He has been playing like garbage. You want your WR beating him not wrestling and falling for his poo

Yep....

Run game disappearing IMO was the biggest factor. We were third and long all 2nd half.

oh i think he'll beat him. both of them are sort of hot-heads, and there is a pretty high chance smith gets into it with someone anyways. my bet is finnegan.

You guys all know how I feel about this Offense. We have moved the ball against everyone, the Rams will be no different. When we limit the WTF? moments, we are extremely efficient. Maybe not as explosive as last year, but IMO, this year is a more aggressive attacking Offense. Shula is dialing it in nicely.

Teamed with our Defense. This Offense can lead us to where we want to go.

6 of our 1st 7 possessions against the Cards we were 1st and 10 inside FG range. And we scored 6 points. WAY too many of those WTF? moments. Drops, penalties, sacks, more drops, fumbles, and INTs all made their presence felt. We limit them to 1 or 2, and we score plenty of points to put the Cards away. Same with Buffalo. We had plenty of opportunities to put them away early, and WTF? happened. Seattle was a clusterfug of WTF? That whole game was filled with em'.

I don't know why we get them, I blame the Football Gods, but until we limit them, or better yet banish them, we will struggle to be everything we want to be.

We play WTF? free. And we can be dangerous. We keep Cam happy. We keep the Huddlez happy, And we get to keep Rivera. And there was great rejoicing.

You play your game, keep you smack respectful, and basically do your job. Smitty got no problem with you.

You break that unwritten rule. You usually gonna pay. And many times you will pay more than you bargained for. There is a crypt somewhere. Full of the bones and remains of the shattered careers wrought by a riled up Smitty.

Thankfully, there is always some young gun aiming to make a name for himself just around the corner. We face a lot of young Ds in the near future. I think it is fair to say, it is a stretch of games Smitty can have a field day. lol.

The best thing for our Offense would be for Freddy and Donald to be WR and let Smitty be slot. Force Cam to improve his short game by giving him Smitty underneath to target. Freddy can run every route, is willing to impede moreso than block, but he is trying, catches everything, and can take the top off the D. Leaving Lafell and Olsen singled, as well as the RB. Lots of potential targets.

Ok I'm done for the moment. Thanks, and carry on.

yeah but sometimes the smallest thing lights his fire (see: xavier rhodes last week).

and cortland finnegan is a little poo.

let's clear some things up here. ginn is having a pretty good year, but he is still just a burner. he is not some fantastic route runner, he's a player that relies purely on his speed.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
