It's the typical BS from the Tar Heel haters here who let emotions f*ck with their reasonability. Nicks would help this team tremendously, and if he didn't he's a FA at the end of the season.

I've already stated this 100X that I would not approve of a J-Stew trade for him nor do I feel he's warranted a big time WR contract.

I'm assuming you are intelligent enough to understand just why we were clearing cap space. We pushed a good bit back into later years as well. We are not out of the woods yet by a long shot. So your solution is to blow it on one injury prone wide receiver? No thanks.

The best teams in the NFL are not the ones who just go out to "win" free agency. We have to build around our QB through the draft.

Fair enough, I know I am dumb for still holding out a minute amount of hope this year, but the point i'm trying to make is that he could put us over that hump to make a run this year.  Next year would play itself out as far as contracts.  Hell, Smitty could even be cut loose along with others such as Stewart.  When I see people mentioning next year for FA's/draft, it makes me think they believe we are either good enough this year to make a run or have given up already.  I'm much closer to the latter.

I don't see any major moves coming this year.

And honestly, I'm okay with that.

Hakeem Nicks for whatever reason doesn't strike me as a give my hometown a discount guy. He definitely seems to want big bucks. And I don't know, he probably wants the guarantee that he'll be the #1 wherever he goes - don't think that would happen with Smith still here.

i dont either, but for topic of discussions sake.....

first post i made in this thread was basically saying this trade proposition is a joke.  but while i dont totally blame our deficiencies on lack of firepower, i know we can improve.

This thread is probably a gigantic waste of time because sadly I agree with your first statement. It's the Panthers. Why would they want to do ANYTHING that could help this team?

Big talk from the same dude who picked the "Rams to win the NFC West" this year, eh?

Think I forgot about that?

And why are you bringing ACC football into a discussion about which current NFL player could currently help our team out?

Try to stay on topic MODERATOR

Because only UNC fanboys are screaming for Nicks.

As a side note, are you really bringing up the Rams prediction as a legitimate retort? I mean really?

Nicks is 25, Smith is 33.

Money talks and it would not surprise me one bit to see a team like Raiders or Browns throw out some serious cash at him. IMHO, and I am a Hakeem Nicks fan, I do not think he's earned a big time contract yet. I think that's why the Giants paid Cruz first.

I certainly believe the GMen are shopping him. Lost of rumors floating around and lots of the higher ups making denials.

I have no doubt they want to improve the team.

They just don't necessarily see this as a way to accomplish that.

(and yeah, they could be right)

Your Rams NFL prediction (LOL) has a lot more relevance to the conversation than ACC football does. I'll at least you credit for not denying that you said it.

Yes or No: Would Hakeem Nicks help out the Panthers this season?

the naysayers seem to be more worried about next year, for some reason.
