Jonathan Stewart needs to HEAL from his SERIOUS injuries that required SURGERY. He needs to take as much time as possible, and make sure that he's totally healed.

All of you calling for him to return immediately aren't very smart! I'd like to think we learned something from bringing Beason back from injury too soon. Then there are even more of you that think we should trade him?? LOL

just like we should have traded DeAngelo last year? Lol... If we would have traded DeAngelo (who 90% of the people on this board wanted gone last year btw)who would be our starting RB? Tolbert?

This thread is a prime example of why it's in everyone's best interest to not read past the first page in any thread if you value your brain cells. The best thing to do, is read the headline, read the link to get the info, catch a few opinions and exit stage left.

Back to Stew, he needs to stay on the bike until he's healthy, because believe it or not, we're gonna need his fresh legs come Jan!

everything wouldn't be a constant....

Let's say we dumped both Double Trouble last year.....we could of simply added another role playing RB to run the ball between the 20s.  They aren't hard or expensive to find.  That might be the easiest position in the NFL to fill.

I don't think we should rush Stewart.  I actually don't expect him back.  We don't really need him....why rush him.  He probably needs a full year to sit.

I've never understood the absolute ignorance when it comes to injured players. how do you get angry about how long a person is hurt?

i love football just as much as the next person, but i really think some people are oblivious to the amount of abuse playing sports puts on a person's body.

my 16 year old son has been suffering from ankle injuries for the past year from playing football. my brother in law played football in high school. he had to have surgery on rotator cuffs on oth shoulders. he recently went to a doctor for xrays and was asked if he ever jumped headfirst into an empty pool. when he mentioned football, the doctor responds with "that explains it".

these guys are putting it all on the line for a game that destroys their bodies every second they play it...all for our entertainment.

show some fugging respect.

You don't get rid of two RBs for a stop gap... If it weren't for their ridiculous contracts that Hurney gave them, they wouldn't even be catching 1/4 of the heat that they have gotten over the last couple of years. Their production has been inhibited over the last few years due to Chuds scheme... Our RBs have never been the problem, they compliment each other perfectly when used properly... See 2008. (Yes it was a long time ago, but it still happened)

I will say that you seem to be in the minority that doesn't want to rush him back. Just go through the thread. For that I do commend you

Edit: if it were that easy... There are plenty of Big name RBs that are not currently employed by any team.

there is literally nothing to indicate this

You're basing this off what exactly? Because the man is recovering from not one, but two surgeries, he's lazy and doesn't care?

I am basing this on what I have seen so far. Am I wrong? Most likely and hopefully. I just dont see the desire, the fire, the eagerness to get back on the field.

I have heard and seen nothing from him to prove me otherwise.

To me, it seems as if he exploits his injury to the max, until he wont be able to take it any further, and I dont blame him, keeping his contract in mind, and thats a shame, because he is very talented.

But like i said, this is my opinion. I could be wrong.

So, less than nothing. Got it.

I'm with CRA on this. Absolutely no need to get Stew back quickly. Let him take his time as long as DWill and Tolbert both stay healthy.

We have some time before we are required to do anything with Stewart roster-wise. It's prudent to hold off a bit.

Steve Reed @SteveReedAP 15m

Ron Rivera says DE Charles Johnson and others have been coming in on day off (Tuesdays) and getting in extra pass rush work.

Love hearing that.  This defense has an identity and is vastly underrated by the media.

If you go back and watch the vikings game, take note of how little run after contact or catch the vikings got.  Literally every time the vikings caught a pass, there was a defender there to meet them (followed by two or three others to finish them off).

This is the best panther defense i've seen in a long time.

An old saying goes "A good defense and a running game travels well in January."  I'm really hoping we get to test that theory out.

Yep.  We never needed Double Trouble.  Overkill.  No need to rush him back.   We barely have snaps to get Barner work to see what he has

    • The coach- Canales was a rookie hc and at times looked like it. But he did manage to revamp the offense, helped Bryce not look like the biggest bust of the draft, exuded positivity,  and made the panthers watchable again. We have a viable head coach for the first time since rivera The gm- Morgan had some hits and some big misses. Hits- the ol, Coker, demani, dj at first. Misses- almost every d player signed, brooks, the jury is out on x. I get what he was trying to do with brooks/Hubbard but it blew up in his face. Hopefully he learns from his mistakes. But he did trade mingo for a 4th, managed to get a 2nd rounder this year from the Rams and I am a fan of constantly churning the bottom of the roster The draft- x can be a solid player but not until he catches the ball, brooks was a high risk pick that didn't work out, Wallace, demani and Chau Smith can be solid contributors and showed glimpses, Coker and jt should be mainstays. And flipping a 7th round lb that was about to be cut for Jackson was a great move.  The offense- had its ups and downs but Bryce has turned from one of the biggest busts in nfl history to a potential franchise qb, that change is worth its weight in gold, thielen was crafty and underrated as usual, Coker was a gem, jt was the solid but has some growing to do, and Hubbard has been awesome, the o line was much improved as well The defense- well...they set records, injuries, poor coaching (imo), bad playcalling and just plain sucking this defense needs everything to change, we need horn and Jackson back and we get brown back but we need bodies and an identity. If they can do with the def what they did with the o then we can challenge for the division bc we already have some pieces there.  Overall- this was a growth year full of questions and some of the major ones were answered(qb, coach). For the first time in a long time the season didn't end depressingly and I do have cautious optimism for next year. But they need to learn from the mistakes of 2024 and if they do I like where this team is headed. On to the draft and 2025
    • I disagree. It’s not hard to double a WR and still play the run. It’s called a bracket which you can use with a drop down safety or an OLB. Look up how it’s done. Also in obvious passing situations, doubling a wr is not hard. Falcons torched us in obvious passing situations time after time. 2 min drill, 3rd and long to where there’s no excuse to not focus more on Drake London. Mooney was out. London was the only WR Penix was looking at.  Evero simply can’t make adjustments. He’ll most likely be fired next year. Wish we would’ve just ripped the bandaid off this year. To call all people morons who think we can do better than Evero is a very ignorant and arrogant statement. Who the hell are you?
    • As a rookie head coach, I think he exceeded expectations.  We looked competitive in almost all our games.  I don't think he's hit his ceiling.  7 of 10 for this year.
