Keenan Allen

There's 5 days before we play again, WTF else is there to talk about?

I know right, this team wins a damn game and all of a sudden topics like this are off limits. We are still a 2-3 football team with our 3rd wr outranking our #1 wr. And that 35 year old 5ft 9 WR is the only wr on the damn roster after this year.

Nobody wanna hear how 'I told you so' draft picks discussions months later, especially in that position your team is performing below average in

Why are we comparing players drafted a full round apart (Allen and Kugbila)? Seems utterly pointless.

Or is this another one of those "We shoulda traded J Stew for a second rounder and then traded back and got 3 more 3 rounders and used two of those to go get Hakeem Nicks and the other to draft Keenan Allen and get Cam some WEAPONS so we can get a CHAMPIONSHIP!!1!!!" threads I love so much?

Nobody is comparing the two. It was said after our 2nd round selection the team packed it up for the night only to come back the next day and draft....Edmund!!

My point is that we spent enough time with Keenan Allen to know that he may have worthy of trading back into the 3rd to take him. If he continues to play the way he has the past two weeks it should concern every fan that we passed on a potential #1 wr that was right in our own backyard.

I was on the Keenan Allen train too, dude was a baller from his very first game at Cal to his last with so so talent around him, he was legit as it gets but some people got turned off by combine numbers. I dont know who is the best receiver this year but Sammy Watkins does resemble Allen in coming in as a Freshmen star and producing his entire career, he might be the best option for us as pure WR prospect him or Marquis Lee.

Another young wr we passed on that had a big night. He's shown flashes of being really good. For a team that paid so much attention to a guy you have to wonder what made us pass on him.

For comparison:

15 220 3-Lafell

23 332 2-Allen

Lafell seems to be stepping up this year but Allen appears to be better at this point in his career than Lafell was his rookie year.

Keenan Allen was drafted in the 3rd round while the panthers packed it up and returned to the hotel room set on drafting Edmund Kugbila.

Dude, you half stepped a little bit, (but I still gave you pie...j/k):

Keenan Allen is better than LaFell right now.

We've missed out on some pretty good receivers, including Allen, and Justin Blackmon (no disrespect to Luke), Josh Gordon T.Y. Hilton, Denarius Moore...even UDFAs like Kenbrell Thompkins and Marlon Brown and...

Blackmon not an option bc of Luke.

Alshon Jeffrey is doing well in Chicago.

Keenan Allen is doing well in SD but like that TD pass he got...Cam would never have even tried to throw that ball..

Big loss was missing on Kenny Stills who idolizes Steve Smith and has great speed.

Give credit to Phillip Rivers he is a gun slinger who takes chances in tight windows. He anticipates WRs getting open where Cam is more reactionary.

I am not sure Allen would have similar success here.

another guy i liked(not as much as Allen, but still really liked). he is a deep threat and has made some huge catches in his career at OU. one thing i look at with WRs is over 20 TDs, because that usually translates to the next level especially if they get them in different forms. but i hate Kenny is in NO because Brees will turn him into a stud.

He was passed up by a lot of teams because I think he ran the slowest 40 time out of all WRs, had terrible workouts, was never known as a speed guy and couldn't seem to recover easily from a PCL injury. It's understandable why teams chose to look the other way. He did look really good the last couple weeks though. Seems like a tough kid with very good hands.

No, no, no.

He played in the Pac12, therefor he sucks.

But yeah he had an injured foot and ran a dogshyt 40.

Seriously, guys, I really regret that the Panthers did not draft T.Y. Hilton, but I am gonna regret not drafting Keenan Allen even more. Right there for the taking, yet we pass.  Our FO seriously has a mental block when acquiring game-changing talent at WR.  Evaluating wide receivers, whether in the draft or FA, is obviously absent at BOA, and Lady Luck went MIA after we drafted Steve Smith. Our FO's incompetence in this area makes me wonder if we should get an outside consultant just to bring in a WR who can consistently make an impact every week.
