Keenan Allen

putting it into perspective we would be starting FUA right now if we drafted Keenan instead of KK.

And long term i think it will be more beneficial. But damn we gotta start drafting O in the top couple of picks

i said it during the offseason i thought we were one or two seasons away from being a steady contender

I love building the D, but you have to have a consistent O to get into the playoffs.

Offense gets you to the dance, D wins it for you.  Just my opinion.

Because of Hurney signing DWill, J Stew, and Beason to ridiculous contracts, we have not been able to sign WR's and OL to help Cam.  He needs an infusion of talent around him.

Another young wr we passed on that had a big night. He's shown flashes of being really good. For a team that paid so much attention to a guy you have to wonder what made us pass on him.

For comparison:

15 220 3-Lafell

23 332 2-Allen

Lafell seems to be stepping up this year but Allen appears to be better at this point in his career than Lafell was his rookie year.

Keenan Allen was drafted in the 3rd round while the panthers packed it up and returned to the hotel room set on drafting Edmund Kugbila.

Why are we comparing players drafted a full round apart (Allen and Kugbila)? Seems utterly pointless.

Or is this another one of those "We shoulda traded J Stew for a second rounder and then traded back and got 3 more 3 rounders and used two of those to go get Hakeem Nicks and the other to draft Keenan Allen and get Cam some WEAPONS so we can get a CHAMPIONSHIP!!1!!!" threads I love so much?

I'm still pissed about the Kugbila pick. But there was no way we were going to get Allen anyway.

What we should be talking about right now is what we are going to do at receiver next year. They're all set to be free agents, except Smitty. I see no scenario where we don't draft at least one receiver early in the draft. Ted Ginn should be the priority to re-sign obviously.

He was taken two picks after where our 3rd rounder would have been if Hurney didn't trade it away. We could drafted Alexander, got a KR in free agency rather than draft Joe Adams and kept our 2013 3rd.

Imagine Star in the 1st, Short in the 2nd, Allen in the 3rd, then instead of Kugbila taking this guy who got taken on the very next pick. Oh well :P

i think what most of us is saying about Allen is that he would have been well worth the 2nd round pick we had. we should have know that considering the time spent with him, and how much interested we showed in him. again, i think DG went into the draft saying he was going to take KK in the 2nd reguardless who was on the board.

Yeah I don't like looking back but damn is it enticing haha

Star, Short, Allen/Williams, and then Bakhtiari would've have been perfection but oh well haha

If we're comparing players: Kugbila at G over Bakhtiari at T was what we did straight up.  Solder spoke the world of Dave, he came from a school that has proven to produce recent NFL OL, and he's proven he's got it with the Pack.  If our staff didn't have this weird affair going with Bell...

I didn't want Allen, but I was wrong.  For all those criticizing on us passing on him, he could've been our #2 rated player on the board when we drafted Short for all we know.  Short has looked pretty damn good so far, so I'm not complaining.  It's not like he's looking like a Hurney 2cd rounder.

i was pretty high on allen. he looked like the best receiver in the draft. the only reason he wasn't drafted in the first is because of his injuries imo. i wouldn't have taken him in the first (obviously i wouldn't have taken anyone over star, we lucked out big time) because of those injuries.

sammy watkins is the name we should be talking about anyways.
