I was saying he wasn't a stud actually. I was far from impressed with Clausen in college, and remember saying on this forum on Draft night the pick was going to be terrible when we looked back....

I didnt mean you called him a stud. imo he was a stud in college. I was a huge fan of the pick. I was wrong.

But, you cant really look back in say it was a bad pick. We needed a QB badly and he luckily feel right into our laps. I mean who else could we have drafted based on needs? Terrence Cody?

You don't know what happened to Ken Dorsey?! Simply put none of those QBs, college or pro, compare to Cam. 50 TDs in his one and only year (national champion) of big time college football and rewriting the record book every week as we speak. I have seen NOTHING from Luck that would make me envy not having him over Cam. Nothing!!!

It was an awful pick. His performance confirmed that. There's a reason he fell as far as he did when Kiper thought he could be drafted before Bradford. He would have fallen further had Hurney not taken him. The only saving grace in that pick was that Hurney wasn't able to trade the first the next year to move up and get him like he said he wanted to. Had he done that and we missed out on Cam....well that would be unforgivable....

Hindsight 20/20, sure. But I dont think anyone couldve seen that he wouldve been out of the league after 3 years. You got it right, but you may have just been lucky for calling it right.

It all depends on where we finish but I foresee Matthews and Lewan going 3-10 range, and Kouandjio going in-between 10-13.

ASJ is too big and explosive for him to go in the second round (despite having baggage). His off-the-field issues could kill our chances of drafting him too. Ebron might end up being a late first round pick, in my opinion. That athleticism isn't easily found in TEs.

What about Colt Lyerla. Huge target also. Hasnt seen much of his game, but he could be there in the 2nd.

I'm not trying to be cocky, but it wasn't luck. The same things that caused him to bust horribly are the same flaws he had in college. He just had incredible college talent around him to mask them. Just about anyone who watched Clausen enough could tell he was never going to be a starting QB in the NFL. I wouldn't have even drafted Clausen based on what he showed me at ND.

Ask yourself this question: Could Luck won a NC with that Auburn team?

Andrew Luck never played against an SEC team.  If he had he would have been exposed ...badly.  Andrew Luck vs 2011 Alabama and LSU?  OMG.... it would have been disgusting.  RG3 would have been the number 1 pick.

That being said, college is not the pro's.  Andrew Luck may be a better "pro" style QB than Cam(I don't think that means better but I concede that point), however in the college game there is no way Luck would have won a NC with that Auburn team.   Matter of fact He would have lost at least 3 games that year with that team.

Why didn't Luck lift up his team and get them more than one trip into the red zone?

BTW I think Luck is good. And I don't care if he went back to school.

My frustration is the media anointment he has received when other guys even in his draft are equal or better than him.

He literally always gets a pass or excuses made for him while other guys (ahem) are not given the same benefit of the doubt
