Because I have a distinct memory of an interview he did before playing a down in the league in which he stated, and I'm paraphrasing, he was "more than just an athlete" he was "an icon" both on the field and in fashion. Luck is unexpectedly athletic...He runs like he's stepping on hot coal. He lacks a certain fast twitch muscle.

 

Let me ask you this, what other position could luck play on the offensive side other than QB? I'd say maybe TE. Cam, RG3, Kaepernick can easily be top notch WR in this league. This is what athletic means. Your physical ability can translate to any sport or position. Not because you had a 7 yard run in a football game.

Has nothing to do with what I hear on television.  It was what I witnessed with my own eyes.  My only comment was that I would not want that type of behavior from my leader of the face of my franchise.  If you're alright with it that's all that matters.

Thanks for the comment, because I think this is a good example of someone coming from a place of ignorance (and don't take that as an offensive term, it doesn't always have a negative connotation). You purely view and see Cam Newton from the eyes of those that tell you about him, which is the media.

 

You know nothing of his foundation, his donations, his contributions to Charlotte, Atlanta, and their surrounding areas. You know nothing of him pledging $150,000 to the Charlotte-area public school system, or his sizeable contributions to the Boys and Girls Clubs. You don't know what his actual foundation does for inner city school kids and athletes. Hell, you probably don't even know that kids all over the country are holding his touchdown balls because he gives every ball he scores to a child in the stands. Google that sh*t. I bet you haven't done that.

You know about the chopped up, taken out of context press conferences and a "paraphrased" pre-draft interview that was highly publicized for sports media TV ratings, internet clicks, and newspaper sales. And it makes me sick the way they treat someone that has been nothing more than a law abiding philanthropist since he's been in the league. He's had room to grow AND he's grown immensely. Trust me. But he's 24 years old. He's doing it right. Your #1 overall pick hasn't experience half of the unnecessary scrutiny that ours has. It makes no sense.

 

And that's ok, I don't blame or expect you to. You're a Rams fan. But don't bring that misinformed bullsh*t around here expecting it to be used as evidence. You give me real evidence, NOT a bullsh*t chopped up press conference, I'll respect your opinion. It was misconstrued and he was a 21 year old kid. Even though he'd been in the spotlight, he'd never been in the money filled spotlight of the NFL. Kill him for it, why don't you.

Ahhhh, did you miss me?  I never claimed to be an expert on your QB or his contributions to the city of CLT.  I was impressed but frankly, I am not overly concerned with how much he gives to whom.  Nor do I have the time or interest to view "his every press conference".

 

All I said, and I stand by that, is he comes across as (unjustifiably) arrogant and childish, in my own opinion and is not someone I would want as the "leader" of my team or face of my franchise.  Next you'll be defending the fact that he's an admitted Falcon fan, or did I take that out of context too?
