Ted Ginn

Ginn Jr. did not have a drops problem in college, so I was not as worried about that as some. What I was concerned over was his route running. Which as it turns out, is not a problem either. He has shown, nay, proven, he deserves to be on the field. Also to mention he can play any position, so he can be on the field for more plays. He has worked his butt off to take advantage of the opportunity the Panthers gave him.

He is no longer just a specialist. His salary should increase accordingly. (Is his value as a 3 down WR outweigh adding return duties to his plate?) I do believe he will give us a deal because we basically resurrected his career. So I expect him here next year. As a receiver only. Or as an occasional attempt at an emotion lifter. Throw him out there as a returner.

Ginn Jr. has proven he can be what a lot of folks thought he couldn't be. Lafell fills his roll nicely. Teamed with Smitty and Olsen. That's not a bad group to have. With Ginn Jr. showing up, this is a solid group of WRs.

So...yeah...Ted Ginn Jr. I absolutely hate having to pull for Ginn Jr. Fug his skinny little will somebody break his azz, 3 return TDs against us within 2 years, did you just see that? OSU playing guts.

The more Teddy is getting involved in the passing game. The better the passing game has become. Coinky dinky? We thinks not.

tl/dr version. Ginn Jr. has proven a lot of people wrong about him with his play. What he has lacked in the return game, he has more than made up in the passing game. Who'd a thunk it?

One play he went 1 on 1 with Jared Allen. I respect that, dude holds his own.

Cmon man, Jared Allen could have wasted him.  Allen was just playing cautious because you know if the Panthers are sticking Ginn on you, something is up.  The block on the LaFell TD was nasty though.

I don't get the naysayers... he's played better at WR than I think anybody thought he would...

As far as the PRs, watch him... he catches the ball (something I always cringed at in the past) and runs with authority.  He doesn't hesitate or wait or any of that... I don't recall him having one negative return yet, he always gets something.  That MIN punter yesterday was good, booted it high and gave the punt cover team time to get there...  and Ginn still had some decent returns.

This is what excites me about the future.  I hope even if Rivera is gone that the new coach will keep Proehl on as WR coach.  The route improvement is 100% coaching and mentoring.  Also, I didn't remember seeing drops in college either.  I think that as long is Proehl is the coach, whoever we bring in at receiver will improve.

It is not total unheard of for new HCs to keep some of the positional coaches. Best case, he is still here because Rivera is still here. Which means we made the playoffs. Cool.

Anyway, Ricky, and whomever else is aiding in Ginn Jrs emergence, deserve credit. Ginn Jr was a beast, both as a Returner, and a WR in college. Then he went to Miami, and has had 1 decent year as a WR? Pennington showed Freddy could be a viable offensive weapon. No QB since has been able to, or did not want to, use him.

I say, thank you.

Rivera really does have a top notch staff.
