Why are people getting excited over Cam's play today?

Can't get on board with this one...Cam played great today, his sideline TD to Lafell was clutch. It was the nail in the coffin, death stroke, etc. It was a play that had to be made and he made it. This was Cam's best game as a Panther, great accuracy, progressed though his reads and protected the ball. What we saw today was what Cam can be with a proper gameplan. I saw a lot of screens and slants today, kept the heat off of Cam and when he got heat he side stepped in the pocket...a major change as opposed to the spin and roll out, sack.

noticed his pocket awareness was really good today as well.

 I thought the oft offered excuse that the short game was a weakness of Cam's was complete BS.

 

IMO it was a weakness of his but he has improved it dramatically. His rookie year a lot of those short passes would have sailed over the receiver's head.

Debby Downer alert: He's been able to blow a few teams out every year, not one person has said he can't. His problem remains close games. Get back to me after ONE close win where he win because of Cam. Until then, enjoy these wins in the moment, but know that this season is still another wasted year until Cam can be counted on the clutch. It's not impossible, but a 35-10 win over a bad team does absolutely nothing to allay any fear about Cam I've had lately.

I think the game plan helps as well. 

 

I think in the past the Panthers wanted to go down field and eschewed checkdowns and the short stuff, and it showed.

 

Now, the Panthers (along with Cam) probably realize they have to throw screens and mix it up, cause the OL just can't protect Cam on consistent deep stuff, and it's been incorporated (we hope) into the game plan, not a last minute "dump off", so Cam is more willing to do it.  And he looked good doing it today. 

 

I especially loved how he mixed up with so many different receivers. Would love to see Ginn and Brandon Williams have some more spotlight.

at the same time for those that aren't excited about newton's play today.... if he played bad what the heck would you be saying? He can't win with some of you. He was very, very, very good today. be objective. Today him being lights out was the most we could have asked for. He cant string together 5 MVP ggames in a row before he has one in a row.

Ask yourself this question: Why would I set myself up so easily like this? If Cam is so very able to perform well under pressure, don't you think it would be very easy to make me look very stupid? The more threads like these I make, the bigger the potential hole I'm digging right? 

 

Maybe you guys actually have no confidence in Cam at all when the pressure is on him to win the game. Anybody think the Patriots win that game today if you put Cam under center that last drive?

You will find countless other threads like these to bump up. I give no shits. I never say anything untrue, if Cam comes through with a big completion to Smitty on 3rd down like he did this week, that's awesome! You guys think I care about "e-cred", sorry, nothing makes me happier than when I say something negative about the team or a player and they prove me wrong.
