No other player in any sport has more control over his team's success than the NFL QB.. Rarely does a team succeed without a good QB. With our defense, we should not be 2-3 with the teams we have played. The #1 defense in the league (scoring) and we can't muster enough to win because our QB folds up in the fourth quarter (2013). Elite? Not remotely.

What, lol.

Please explain how Cam folded in the fourth quarter against Seattle when Deangelo fumbled while we were driving in the red zone with all the momentum late in the game and our offense never got the ball back? How did Cam fold in the fourth quarter against Buffalo when he and the offense never got the opportunity to get one single yard and continue on for a touchdown and put the game out of reach for Buffalo when our head coach decided to settle for three points and our vaunted defense promptly gave up a game winning drive?

Also, I haven't claimed nor have I seen anyone else claim that he is currently "elite". He is two seasons and five games into his career.

Alex Smith is as good as Peyton Manning this year and better than Brees, Brady, and Rodgers.

He is 6-0. Facts are facts.

Don't forget that Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Mark Rypien are better then Dan Marino, Dan Foust, Archie Manning and Jim Kelly.

There you go MadHatter, you lose the argument before it even begins. I've never once said Cam is exempt from criticism.

Care to try again?

They always ALWAYS fall back to the "You think Cam is perfect and beyond criticism!" strawman.

EVERY.

DAMN.

TIME.

I don't know if they're just lazy or so stupid they think what they are saying is true.

Yeah, that's usually the only argument I get. In fact, I just got it in another thread.

I've still yet to get one of these individuals to provide me with a shred of proof in the form of a quote though.

"Well obviously you're just one of them there Cam fan boys. Why shouldn't we trade him? We've gotta have all options on the table!"

You are so right. The team--not the qb--is responsible for winning or losing. That is probably why they all make the same money.

You do realize that Cam is not only NOT the highest paid player on the team, that he's NOT even the highest paid player on the offense, right?

That Steve Smith, Deangelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Jordan Gross, AND Ryan Kalil make more than Cam?

Right?

Only because of the new rookie contracts

Only because of the new rookie contracts

So?

I'm talking about what IS, not what you dream things to be while you are baked.

There's 5 higher paid offensive players than Cam on this roster. Is Cam holding this team back more than their performance/salary ratio is?

Personal stats are fine but wins are just as important to a QB. Wins point to the intangibles such as leadership drive and being a mentor. We need more talent but we have plenty to make it to the playoffs. We were not that far off last year.

I worry that in 5 years we are going to be talking about how Cam could have gotten us to the playoffs but the talent and coaching around him never let it happen. Hopefully we still go 10-6 this year and it is moot.
