Team preparing bids for Giants WR Hakeem Nicks

Yeah which is why I said GETTLEMAN... Not me, not fans. Geezus.

Gettleman won't pay that much. I'll be glad when Nicks is finally signed somewhere and this obsession over him comes to an end.

Then the boards fascination will switch to some other flavor of the month acquisition.

The Giants aren't going to pay him what he wants.

The braintrust making that decision used to include a guy named Dave Gettleman.

So the question becomes this: would he agree with their decision?

If he would, there's little chance of Nicks coming here.  If not, who knows?

People forget it isn't hurney slinging ridiculous contracts. I trust Gettleman's judgement on this. I am sure he is aware about Nicks and his potential. Gettleman would be the first person to know if Nicks would be worth a third round pick and a contract. Ideally grabbing him now would be great. Let um audition for the rest of the season. See if he would be worth signing to a huge deal. Gettleman has not made ridiculous contracts so far. So it is safe to say he will give Nicks a fair contract.

You would give up a third round pick and let him audition for the remainder of the season?  Kind of a steep price to pay.  Ir will take weeks for him and Cam to get some trust.

If you are going to trade your third round pick you better have a deal in place.  If you aren't going to sign him and go your route I would return the conditional Beason pick and call it even.

Gettleman won't give up a 3rd for an oft injured $2 WR.

Nicks is from Charlotte and hes going to want to get paid.

I think if we got him, we could extend him with less than he wants, but more than us fans want to give him.

Personally, I believe hes too injury proned, but would help us a ton when hes healthy.

If this report is accurate, I'm not sure what to read into it.  Does is mean that Nicks is potentially worth far less on the open market than we think?  Or do teams think he'll be difficult to extend?  Or has Nicks' agent sent out the vibe that Nicks will be testing FA and won't be signing an extension?

Could be any of the above IMO.

Unless insane contract required, Nicks. We need a #1 WR bad, and we have for years. We have ZERO history of drafting a WR and developing him for the #1, we got lucky in Smith and that was over a decade ago. I hate to say it, but if Hardy doesn't want what we offered him, let him walk and go after Nicks. Then use early picks on o-line and secondary. I understand Nicks is a bit of a risk with his injuries, but like I said, we're a team that hasn't developed a WR in forever, gotta take some risks.

We also haven't drafted a WR in the first round fir years. Last I remember it was prob Muhammad.....if he went that early. ....not sure.

When was the last receiver we took round 1?
