"Could Dave Gettleman's plans for the Panthers future not include Cam Newton"

Gettlemen recognizes what a POS Coaching staff is currently in Charlotte. (Hopefully)

When Getts installs his own staff next year he'll be able to evaluate Cam properly and make a decision on his future.

And Kat Scrratch Reeder?  :lolu:

This is another article to add to their HOF.

I think Panther fans like Cam because what he has shown his rookie season but the bottm line is, hes just not that good anymore, why? Who knows, why did Josh Freeman go from having a MVP like season one year, to looking like utter poo the next two years. The thing thats worrisome is Cam still had the same OC his sophmore year as he did his rookie year and still regressed and now in his 3rd year he still looks pretty bad. Sure he has had his moments like the first half of the Cardinals game, but he can never keep up that level of elite play throughout the course of the season on a consistent basis.

Look at the Rams. They passed up on RGIII jist because they "already had their QB" they surronded Bradford with a lot of help and he still cant seem to put it all together. What if the same happens to us? We keep Cam just for the sake of keeping him, surrond him with help but he still never progressses? Another thing is yes Cam is very durable and doesnt get hurt easily, but a few years down the road when age catches up to him and hes just not as quick anymore, can he turn into a consistent, legitimate pocket passer? So far, that remains to be seen.

You need help.

And how many of those teams have better weapons than carolina has on the outside? Id say damn near all of them we are a team built to run the ball thats what happens when you have 90 million invested in your rbs and not your te or wrs the sooner this team understands this the better we'll be

If hes asking cam to win from the pocket then they are just setting him up to fail cam will never be a brady or manning type qb he just does t fit that mold hes a big play qb that can run you want to.see him succeed from the.pocket? Get him more weapons obviosuly he can throw the ball hes got almost 9k yards in 2 1/4 seasons

What is a pocket passer? Is it a QB who is physically incapable of running but can throw or is a person who can stay behind the protection of his offensive linemen and throw a football? To me the only thing that separates Cam from other 'pocket passer' other than skin color is that he can run. WTF?

If you know NFL QBs on winning teams and compare similarities between them, you should identify the areas where Cam has deficiencies.  Think with your head and not your heart.  Gettlemen wears 2 rings and wants only a ring to feel successful.  Good.  What have the Super Bowl winning teams had in common:

Ben Rothleisberger

Eli Manning

Peyton Manning

Tom Brady

Joe Flacco

Most of these were multiple winners of Super Bowls.  Note that there are not many running QBs on this list.  Where are these runnning QBs?  Michael Vick has 0 rings.  Randall Cunningham has 0 rings.  Fran Tarkenton has 0 rings.  Jake Locker, RGIII, Colin Kaepernick, Vince Young--they get figured out.  In the NFL nothing at the QB position beats intelligence and accuracy.

Well, there are 32 teams in the league, if all 32 of them had just Eli Maning types, I'm pretty sure an eli manning type is gonna win the superbowl. When you say crap like you're just writing a check that your butt can't catch challenging mobile QBs' ability to win a superbowl. Stop doing that to yourself. Stop embarrassing yourself. When Vick or cunningham or or mcnabb came into the league they were maybe one of 2 or 3 QB of that type in the league. That's 1/11th chance of them winning the superbowl. That's simple math, moron. Year after year in the league pocket passers are heading to the bench. You ever wonder why every year there are 4-5 teams that are in the market for a QB. Ever wonder why, pure pocket passers are on the decline in numbers every year? They're NOT that good. THEY ARE BEING REPLACED through attrition.. Teams can't wait to get rid of them. Wake up, son!

For a league with that many pocket passers, how come only about 3 of them are considered respectable in talent(peyton, brady, rodgers)? Compare that to the NBA, per se, there are probably 30 super stars that even non sports fan can recognize. The NFL is becoming a league of super star in the QB position. Franchises are looking for marketable QBs so those Monday night games can have significance. Nobody wants to watch Schaub vs Dalton. You keep yapping about QBs being figured out, QBs are still picking up 1s downs with their legs on a weekly basis so I don't know what the hell you're talking about. By the way, I like how you sneak Jake Locker in there.

Wake up son, pocket passers weren't winning superbowls because they were better, they won them by default. They can't rely on default anymore. Kapaernick was in the superbowl last year and Wilson it probably gonna be there this year. Now, what the hell are you talking about?

"Incredible QB crop" eh. Like when we drafted "NFL ready" quarterback Jimmy Clausen in the second round of 2010? There is a reason fans are fans. If you're going to move on from a QB, you better know what the hell you're doing, or you'll set yourself back even more years.

I know you remember the argument pre-draft in 2011 put forth by some that we shouldn't draft a QB that year because the 2012 class was going to be so much better. Some of the names thrown out as projected future stars included Landry Jones and Matt Barkley. 2012 rolls around and both decide to stay in school, and when they were finally drafted this year, both went in the 4th round..

So when people talk about how good next year's crop of QB's is going to be, I take it with a large dose of skepticism.

like i said DG should be gone before cam if that is the case.......franchise qbs don't grow on trees. It's clear some of you know your poo and some of you throw poo at the wall and see what sticks. Those knocking Bradford aren't watching football, dude is playing good football these last two years and would be winning if it wasn't for there defense laying an egg.

another thing why is DG trying to make Cam a pocket passer if we have one of the worst olines in football,i refuse to believe he is that petty or blind.

it's clear who watches football and who doesn't on here, anyone who states Cam had one bad quarter of football is labeled a "nut hugger" when in reality that is the 100% truth i just can't wait for this garbage talk to pass over

I think Cam is making it easy for Gettlemen to plan for life without Cam. He hasn't improved AT ALL from his first year in the league. He is no more accurate than he was 3 years ago and that is a big problem. There are a lot of pocket passers coming out this year. Honestly I like McCarron the most out of all of them. He's a proven winner (even tho his talent around him is amazing) and he's an accurate passer.

McCarron's completion % in his first year of major college football was 62.5. Cam's completion % in his only year in major college football was 67.

How can you be sure that McCarron is going to be a more accurate passer than Cam when he is facing NFL defenses? The apples to apples comparison would indicate he might be worse.

And I'm pretty sure Cam was a proven winner in college. You know, that whole undefeated season thing, including coming back from being down a gazillion points against Alabama. You remember that, right?

10 of the 12 teams in the playoffs this year had true pocket passers.

am I the only one that thinks this is a flawed and retarded comparison?

this might be valid if there were anywhere near as many teams using "non" "true pocket passers" as "true pocket passers."

you have to make plays from the pocket as a QB but the idea that you have to exclusively make them from the pocket is ridiculous....
