"Could Dave Gettleman's plans for the Panthers future not include Cam Newton"

You're a dumbwit if you call these 'stats' meaningless. It showcases perfectly WHAT Newton has done with how little he has in his possession. These stats confirm (like many of us in here know) that we're not struggling because of Cam.

Stats always can be bent to your point. Thus the reason that there's the quote "there lies, damn lies, and then there's statistics."

Do I think we're struggling because of cam? No. Do I think he could play better to help? Absolutely.

But, I'm sure those stats don't talk about the two 4th quarter picks he threw against Arizona, right? Or were those someone else's fault too?

I did, and you danced around it lol.

Tressman/Cutler - no ring. McCoy Rivers - no ring. Fisher/Bradford - no ring.

He's saying that a QB change could still happen within the next two years and still fit within the pattern.

The Seattle game was Cam in a traditional power run game offense, that relied on one the play action. Nowhere near what it would be like in a WCO.

I know the offense wasn't the same, but I think he can make the throws necessary to run a WCO. He is better than he was two years ago, and I still think his in accuracies are exaggerated.

I would have agreed with you two years ago however, I am starting to believe otherwise.

Yet he's arguing that it will happen immediately with Cam.

Those guys are each getting at least one year. I disagree that Newton won't receive the same.

Yeah, it doesn't mean that it'll happen immediately. But, I think the argument is coming from the perspective that we only have him under guaranteed contract for the best two years. Would be wise to get something while you can.

Again, though, I'm not saying that's the solution to our problems. But everyone here has to admit DG should explore ALL options.

Fans want to trade Cam, but they are going to wait while a franchise who has yet to competently develop a quarterback, develops a completely new one? The grass isn't always greener, if we actually built around Cam to begin with this wouldn't be a problem.

Yet somehow bringing in another guy is going to magically correct this franchises glaring problems, and they don't begin with the QB.

Again, DG has to look at all options, especially considering we're going to be getting a new coach next season and with the incredible QB crop that is out there this season.

"Incredible QB crop" eh. Like when we drafted "NFL ready" quarterback Jimmy Clausen in the second round of 2010? There is a reason fans are fans. If you're going to move on from a QB, you better know what the hell you're doing, or you'll set yourself back even more years.

I absolutely agree.

A plan needs to be very much in place. This isn't something that the franchise could go about lightly. It would shake the franchise to its core. It would be an all-in an, which seems very much out of JRs comfort zone.

Which is why I don't buy it. JR isn't getting any younger, and a new QB means at least another few years away.

Let's not forget. We have an o line falling apart, a need at LT and RT, nobody to replace Smitty, Lafell is showing little signs of progressing as not only a possible #1 receiver but even a #2. All our WR's outside Smitty are FA next year. Do we have draft picks to spare?

Especially when we damn sure should have already been building through the draft around the quarterback we have now. We haven't.

People are just looking for a scapegoat and not considering other factors and ramifications.

The reason you just brought up is why Id even slightly consider it. Those extra draft picks, high round draft picks, would help fill huge holes that we have on the team. LT, RT, RG, WR, WR, DBs, RBs, we have needs almost everywhere.

That's just a different mindset of how to approach the problem.

We haven't properly built around the QB we have now, I have little faith in our ability to do so with a new one. Even with Gettleman.

Hey, let's overdraft some more o linemen from division 2 schools with some of those picks.

Like I said, the big picture is what some are missing.

Trading Cam Newton at this point would likely be the dumbest move in the history of a franchise that is notorious for dumb moves.

People who think this should even be on the table have no sense of history in the development of young QBs.

It would take 3 1st round draft picks and a legit starting player for me to even think about it and even answer the phone.

I am still not sure what people are expecting of Newton at this stage of his career. He is right where he should be but still has a ways to go. If anyone thinks that this is a guy at this point should be carrying a dysfunctional team on his back to a bunch of wins, the you are llikely going to think every QB ever that we may ever draft is not playing well enough after their third season.

I'm sorry, I meant 4 games into their third season
