Heart-breaking story involving AP

If the story that it's his son really does turn out to be true, how awful is that?

If you're a guy with a child in the custody of their mother, one of the absolute worst feelings would have to be knowing that the mother is dating a guy you think is an utter piece of dog s--t.

In that situation, a story like this is your absolute worst nightmare come true :(

Wow just wow. I never understood how can any human abuse a child. You have to be a really cruel person. I don't have any children but have nieces/nephew and I know how I feel about someone harming them. I can't imagine what is going through AP's mind right now. I send my prayers that the child will be ok.

Yep, tragic. I'll have to include him and his family in my prayers.

Whether you like a player or not, any player, we often forget they're humans who have to deal with the same crap the rest of us go through. However, they rarely get the pass they deserve.

He's one of my favorites because of who he is, his approach and respect for the game.

He's also from OU, so there's that.

Patterson has a son with another Sioux Falls woman, court records show. Records also show that the mother of his child had asked for protection orders twice, claiming he’d choked and punched her, threatened her with a knife and held her in the bedroom against her will.

The mother chose not to pursue permanent protection orders were ultimately were dropped voluntarily in 2010 and 2011.

In 2012, Patterson was charged with simple assault against the mother, however, and was ordered to undergo family violence training and to stay away from her until completing it.

This might be a bit judgmental on my part but fug AP's son's mother for allowing this piece of sh*t into their lives and leaving her 2 year old alone with him.

Update: A source in South Dakota who says she knows the family of the child involved says the victim was not Adrian Peterson's son. From an email she sent us: Just a heads up, TMZ is reporting incorrect information, it's not AP Jr who is in the hospital in Sioux Falls, it's [name withheld, but the child's last name isn't Peterson].

I live here in Sioux Falls and have been kept up to date via friends of [the child's] mom....
The woman also provided a link to the CaringBridge page of the injured child.

And from everything I've read/seen/heard about AP over the years says he's a really good dude too. This is horrible and I wish they would let AP in a room with him by himself and return the favor. What a POS.

Thoughts and prayers with AP and his family. I hope and pray his son is able to make a full recovery despite what the prognosis may be.

Reports are disputing that it's his son.

(hey, if you can't trust TMZ...)

That said, there are a load of stories like this where mothers stay with abusive guys and their children wind up hurt...or dead.

I get reminded on a daily basis that the world is full of people with monkey s--t for brains and hearts.
