Matchups to watch for this week

As something to talk about other than the same old poo for the most part, what are some matchups you're most interested in seeing?  (this was inspired by me reading somewhere, I forget where, that "the Kalil brothers were going head to head" this week or something to that effect and me getting annoyed all over again by stupid media saying stupid things like two offensive players, whether they be two QBs, two OL, etc., go head to head).

Most interested

Luke Kuechly vs Adrian Peterson

Most feared

Jared Allen vs Bell (depends on where they line Allen up at)

Great expectations

Cam vs Vikes' secondary

Panthers offense versus Vikings Defense -  Given our OL woes, what will Shula dial up this week to get some points on the board? I hope he has some creative quick routes dialed up because I think the Vikings will be bring a pass rush. I hope Dwill and Tolbert wear their big boy pants because we need a running game .

You would expect Allen to line up with Bell most of the time because the Vikings will watch the tape and see that he is the weakest link.  Basically we are going to have to give Bell some help in the scheme, which may make us more predictable on offense.

I think we have the personnel and scheme on defense to limit AP.  I doubt they will go away from the run game even if they get down a TD to us.  As long as they keep it close, they will have a shot in the fourth quarter.  Everybody knows that.

Cam will need to have excellent pocket awareness in this game.  Hopefully, they will design some more check down plays for him in certain situations.  AZ had excellent DBs who held their coverage so that Cam had to hold up the ball.  Minn. isn't nearly as good at CB, so hopefully receivers will get open.  I expect Smitty to have a bounce back game and Ginn will likely be open deep.

Of course, it has been said many times, but Cam has to have early success running the ball (any combination of scrambles, keepers, options, dives, whatever).  This will keep Allen at bay and open up everything else.  I would love to see a game where we have more rushing yards than the Vikes.  Do it.

gregg cossell said that we should pretty much just scheme against ADP and allow ourselves to be overaggressive on defense.

one thing that might be a contributor to the game is what peterson is going through right now...

RT @ProFootballTalk: Source confirms Adrian Peterson is dealing with "tragic" personal situation in South Dakota bit.ly/16UUQMF

following that link

The source declined to share any further details, explaining that it’s a subject Peterson will address at the appropriate time.

On Thursday, Stu Whitney of the Argus (S.D.) Leader reported that Peterson remains in Sioux Falls, “dealing with [a] medical issue involving [a] young family member that likely will be a police matter” and that it is a “very serious” health situation.

No further details are currently available.  Multiple tipsters have suggested a possible link to news of a Sioux Falls toddler being in critical condition, and a man named Robert Joseph Patterson charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant.

my initial thought after feeling bad for the family and hoping it's not child abuse related is that we don't tend to do well against teams going through traumatic stuff.

What happens when the make adjustments at half time to slow him down like Arizona did?

we dig out heels in the ground and stick to our guns, right?

we aren't going to let some team dictate what we do just because what they are doing works.

we'll show them they can't make us change.

oye.

I expect Jared Allen to eat Byron Bell for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Bell is no match for the mullet.

Kinda like Marshawn Lynch was going to run over our D. If Allen was gobbling up O linemen this year maybe they would not be 1-3 .
