Should we go after Gonzalez?

OL and WR is more important than tony...hell I'm not that convinced yet with our secondary...I want a shutdown corner considering we have breeze in the division

shut down corners are way overrated, just look at every single one thats been traded last 10 years, none of them have worked out, I'd rather have a all around quality DB with 2 good safetys and 2 decent CB's then one based on a corner.

the need for a shut down corner is one of the biggest Myths in football, best case scenario he only shuts down 1 player for a game, while a good safety is far more useful and can have a much greater impact.

I don't disagree with u and I pretty much mention that by saying I wasn't convinced with our secondary yet as a whole and there is no reason why u wouldn't want a shutdown corner cause they are basically good all around like a Sherman but he is a steal for the late round he got drafted but Woodson was great for a long time but he was a first rounder

I'll say this they are like a Ferrari yeah they are nice and shinny and expensive, but when push comes to shove I can still get from point a-b with my beater.  now I'm not going to turn down a Ferrari if I only have to pay a beater price to get it but I'm not forking over the actual expense to get it because I have other things I can better spend my money on.

Wasn't talking about trade or free agency on a shutdown corner...but at the end we need OL and WR first...maybe we can get lucky in the draft and pick one up or maybe we have one already...diamond in the rough is a possibility too, net u Pete didn't know Sherman was gonna turn into the type of calibur corner he is

I gotcha the first post I just ranted about "shut down corners" because it's a pet peeve of mine.

seriously though our O-line has actually played rather well this season( and I was hating on them in the preseason so I'm actually surprised by this), for example of the 3 sacks Cam in the first half against the Cards 2 were simply from him not throwing the ball away and one was because he tried to rush it and took a loss(qb rush for lost counts as a sack)I remember watching the game a screaming at one point "throw the damn ball away" QB's have 3 second to get rid of the ball anything past that is on the QB 90% of the time.

WR is a concern but we dont need anymore #2 WR's we have 4 #2 options right now, the problem is we dont have that go to #1 anymore, smith isnt it. and there is no easy way to fix this at all.

Falcons have said they aren't open to trading him because they feel like their season isn't over.

They might be the only ones that feel that way... LOL

Now that Julio is down for the season you can put a fork in them.

In any case, they wouldn't trade Gonzalez to a division rival and I'm not interested in trading anything for a guy who will almost certainly retire at the end of this season.
