Cam dissapoints in first quarter of season- NFL article

the fact that TonyN ignored mav1234's question while answering everyone else's with trollvomit suggests he can't answer it without completely exposing himself

so if you want to use stats out of context, if Cam is such an awful passer, how'd he get to 8000 yards passing so quickly?  How did he light up defenses for the last 2 years?

Fans will always equate losses to QB play - fair or not. Unless of course you're putting up Drew Brees numbers. Cam is improving, just seems like he's regressing because he's not out there slinging it all over the place like before. He's trying to become a better pocket passer. Though I disagree with that approach and think he should embrace his God-given ability to make defenders miss in the open field - and show off the hard work he's put in the weight room that allows him to run through and over defenders.

How dare some of us be fans of our QB.

I just find it funny because uh I didn't even want to draft him AND I wanted to sit him at least a year AND I'm happy to admit he's made mistakes, but some of the weirdness of the fans here about him is astounding.  The majority of people have zero interest in benching him etc but boy is there a vocal minority

We really need to point out that his passer rating is way off because of the damn Arizona game. Before that he had the same exact passer rating as Andrew Luck. One game this early in the season will make it dip. He was actually having a better season passer rating wise than his first two seasons.

And they waited until he had a bad game to publish this article.

See how that works?

Cam Newton is 25th in passing this year. This is year three. No Flashes allowed anymore. It is time to produce consistently.

Super Bowl winning QB Peyton Manning had 23 interceptions in his FOURTH year with only 26 touchdowns.

Multi Super Bowl winning QB Eli Manning had 20 interceptions in his FOURTH year with only 23 touchdowns.

But, yeah, we must hold Cam Newton to a much, much higher standard in his THIRD year.

Yeah at some point. But not 20 games into a guys career who was very green coming out of college.

Even greats like Brees and Peyton couldn't do it at the beginning of their careers and Brady is struggling to do it even now.

So just how long are we suppose to wait for him to have that ability? I know he cannot do it all, I appreciate that. But this is our third year, he's got to lead this team to a win somehow. The losing has to end at some point?

Also I disagree, that Peyton could do it and Brady MAY be struggling to do it now, but his record sure doesn't reflect it. Heck Andrew Luck and Russel Wilson are doing it.

Are you blaming the Seattle loss, where we never got the ball back after DWill (NOT Cam) fumbled the ball, on Cam? Or the Bills game where our defense allowed a rookie to drive right down the field in the last minute?

Anyways

Andrew Luck 5 games, 9TD and 62% comp

R Wilson 5 games, 8TD and 58% comp

Cam Newton 4 games, 7TD and 58% comp

None of those three are superior stats, but the difference is that two out of those have winning teams. I would argue that their teams are winning despite their stats.

In Peyton's 4th season he was 6-10 as a starter, had a similar TD%, and a worse INT% as Cam this season.

Brees after his third season was essentially run out of SD.

The year Eli won his first Super Bowl in his fouth season near the end of the season the NY Post called him Eli the Terrible after a couple of bad games and losses that made their playoff chances unlikely.

There are numerous other examples

Most QBs don't start really clicking until around their 5th or 6th season.

The idea that Cam should be good enough to win in spite of the surrounding cast is something that most QBs in history couldn't do by this point in their careers.

As I have said before, we need to surround him with people who will make him look better than he really is until he has the experience to make them look better than they really are.

Doesn't mean that Cam will be as good as those guys, but he is going to be a lot better than he is right now, and he is pretty damn good (albeit short of elite) already.
