I don't blame this on Shula.  It's the same script of the previous 2 years.   We are horrifically inconsistent.  We make 2 many mistakes.  We drop/fumble/throw a pick at the most in opportune times.  We fail to get stops when we really need them.  We play conservative at the wrong times.  We block horribly the first half of the year and miraculous improve when we block better.  Shula has nothing to do with it.

I have to admit that I wasn't thrilled with the hire of Shula.  But its hard to blame him for the poor performance when we really aren't much worse this year than we were at a similar point last year.  At some point, we are just going to have to admit that until we get a little more talent on offense, we aren't going to be very good no matter who the offensive coordinator is.

Why?

 

In our first 6 games last year, we had 35 points against the worst defense in the nfl (Saints) and one decent but losing effort against Atlanta.  Other than that, it was 14, 12, 7, and 10 points.

Plenty of people (including OP and Zod) were pissed when he was hired, saying that he sucked everywhere he went, his offense was slow, he was in over his head etc.

 

what makes things worse is that hue jackson was on the market. hue ran the same type of offense as chud and was damn good at his job (perhaps better than chud). it would have been a perfect fit.

 

but yeah rivera "knows better". things will click eventually!

Who thought he was going to turn things around? Mediocre coaching staff you get mediocre/ poor results. Being cheap doesn't work in the NFL.

To be fair, we'd have to improve substantially in order to be considered mediocre.

I don't know what made the coaching staff think that Shula was going to just turn it on here. He didn't do it in tampa or alabama. Our offense looks for enemic. With that being said, the players aren't doing him any favors either. Execution is key. What bothers me is how other team's QB can throw like 3 picks and still win. Cam throws one and for the most part it looks like a wrap. We just need to learn to over come adversity. We make it mistake, hey it happens. The next play forget about it and move forward. It is very embarassing to read the panthers fb feeds and see fans trash our QB. They call him stupid, a bust, Jamarcus Russell/Vince Young. Just the last two years ago everyone was applauding him now some of turned on him. I believe we will get better. What does it take? Just win

Anyone can look at Cam and see that he hasn't developed. IF you are a hater you put it on him and if you are a homer you put it on the coaching.
