Panthers sign WR Marvin McNutt

Mr. Scot

Yeah, I remember when Hurney put players "on notice" in 2010 because JR told him to purge the roster to prepare for the lockout.

Rinse and repeat with this franchise.

I know dude smh. I think Gettleman is here for the better tho.

So what's the over/under on one of the shitty announcers they have broadcasting our games screwing up and accidentally saying we just signed McCunt to our team?

I mean, if they've said previously that Rosario Dawson just caught a game-winning touchdown against the Chargers, I don't believe it's out of the realm of possibility.

It can also give up a pick at a place when a better player would have been available.

How many times did Hurney do that?

Our receiver corps needs work. I get that. And I wholeheartedly agree with it. What I disagree with is the notion that if we don't make this move, right now, we'll be screwed long term.

Desperation this season often leads to mistakes that hurt you in future seasons. That's not what I want to see out of Gettleman.

Hurney never picked up potential WR1 talent by trade (FA or the draft). He screwed the draft up by draft manipulation (i.e., being cute), not by trading. You're comparing apples to oranges. I'm not talking scrubs here.  It's taking a risk, but it's not being cute with draft picks. It's standard practice.

I am not talking about desperation, I'm talking about bringing some guys in here that can play ball, one having the measurables and capacity to be a monster at WR (by most accounts).

Trade, FA and draft, they are all a roll of the dice any way you slice it, especially the draft.

I don't think we'll be screwed long term if we do or don't make a "blockbuster" move. It's gonna take a pattern of moves (standing firm and/or watching others make moves) to gradually bring disaster or yield success.

McNutt joined Miami this offseason when he was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles, who drafted him in the sixth round of the 2012 Draft.  He appeared in four games for the Eagles, but did not record a reception.  He spent most of the season on Philadelphia's practice squad.

He clearly was impressive enough this preseason for Miami to earn a place on the practice squad, and was on the bubble as someone who could, potentially, make the 53 man roster.  Instead, the Dolphins only kept four wide receivers, Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, and Rishard Matthews, while putting McNutt and Brian Tyms on the practice squad. Let's see how tis turns out because McNutt could turn out to be halfway decent.

Get your McNutt for 99 cents with the purchase of a fugin Folkerts.

Ya gotta love our FO.

Calm down we're not gonna be signing Hakeem

Nicks or Jake Long right now after 4 games into the season jesus
