Cam or Eli ?

Bleys it was just a simple question and to me it's quite relevant. I hear a host if excuses day in and day out and nothing has changed in 3 years.

I just wonder how many here would honestly admit to believing that others in the league would arrive at the same excuse driven conclusions even if all they had to risk was a marginal talent like Eli to find out.

You took it too far. I'm not proposing a trade, hypothesizing about the probability of a trade, or even interested in acquiring Eli Manning.

to me this is proposing a trade and even asking the probability of a trade..

Hypothetical:

If Gettleman walks into the the Meadowlands wearing his best Sunday smile and offers Cam for Eli straight up today, do you think he gets a yes or a no.

to keep it simple, No, I doubt they trade Eli for Cam.   The reasoning behind it is obviously not important to this thread though.

No. That trade would never work. I think Gett would get laughed out of the state personally.

This question is about validating or invalidating excuses.

If you can't say the giants would definitely want him because they as a winning organization not afraid to do what it takes could surround him with what he "needs" and the whalaa... Super Bowl! Then maybe your (no one in particular ) ideas about how he is so hamstrung in an impossible situation aren't as valid as you think.

In other words and maybe deserved of its own thread... Which teams would in fact trade straight up today? How many are there out there who look at us, long for Cam and keep saying to themselves "the panthers are doing it wrong ".

I cannot get past 5 teams. All of which are in shambles and already practically blown up.

So basically you just wanted to start your own "Cam isn't the answer" thread by disguising it with some asinine trade scenario.

there was already another thread about other teams...

you may not get past 5 teams, that's cool.  it's all subjective like most opinions.

for instance, I wouldn't trade a 2x SB winning champ from a team that has a pretty solid nucleus from those teams.  If I wanted to revamp my entire team and coach, I'd take Cam over Eli.

but that wasn't the answer you were looking for which handicapped the entire topic by default.

You just wanted a yes or no answer so you could eventually post that response up above and move this onto a topic that discusses your lack of faith in Cam.  Which is cool.  It's valid.  I just don't think many who disagree with you are all too crazy to do so.

Considering half this board already uses Madden to evaluate trade scenarios, we wouldn't want to jump to that conclusion before he finally admitted it. ;)

To reiterate there is no agenda here. I don't need any of you to agree with me about cam or anything else. I wanted to get an honest response to just how legit these excuses are. Try to remove yourself for a moment. Your fandom. Your homerism. Your company lines.

Are the excuses legit beyond reproach? Or are they legit beyond reproach in Charlotte.

Bear with me because im on my phone. People around here know im a big Cam supporter and im frustrated with the playcalling, the coaching staff, the inability to build the oline somewhat around him and his lack of weapons (i didnt see smitty losing this much step in the offseason). But after reading from credible posters who are questioning Cam, I sat back and really thought about what the best interest of this organization is. I believe you have said you want to move on from him. Not 100% sure.

I tried to look at the present and the future and what our best options are. I looked at Cam's weaknesses and strenghths, how this franchise helped or negated those strenghts and weaknesses and whether I though Cam had the work ethic, the mental capacity and the leadership to lead this team to the super bowl.

Cam does have problems reading defenses. But its not that he cant read defenses period. If you look at the past 10 games before the Cardinals he was 22 td and 4 picks. That is impossible to do if you cant read defenses. A lot of what we have here is just opinion through observation. We are not in the film room, at the practices or on the sidelines. From what ive seen he does have problems with some defensive looks and knowing to audible out of certain plays. That can be taught. Whether you think he is willing or able to learn you and I will never know. Ive seen progress, then disaster, then more progress, then disaster.

When you have a kid that is growing and learning having O-line troubles makes things ten times worse looking then they are. Even on some of those blitz in the Cards game you saww lineman and rbs miss blocks.

if this coaching staff and GM know Cams flaws what have they done to help assist him? Nothing. DG took a major hit in my opinion of him because of it. If we wanna build around Cam we need a solid o-line and big WRs because of Cam's innacuracies. And most importantly we need an offensive coach who can hide his weaknesses and bring out all his positives (speed, elusiveness and big play ability because of his arm strenghth). We can either start building around Cam or look elsewhere. Do the positives outweight the weaknesses? Does starting from scratch and finding a new qb help us in the long run instead of building weapons that play to his strenghths? Which is a more calculated risk?

I think we know what we have in Cam, ive seen flashes of brilliance and flashes of ineptitude. We need a coaching staff that can get that jekyll and hyde straightened out. Because to me the odds we make the super bowl the quickest and easiest path is to believe in Cam and build on his strenghths and try to minimize or hide his weaknesses. It is a whole organizational and team effort. Cam can be superman if this organization believes and wants him to be.
