Huddle Logic

Brees had an injury (to his shoulder, if I remember correctly) that some thought could be career altering.

That was why Miami balked at the last minute when it looked like a done deal that he'd be a Dolphin.

the injury was the excuse that allowed AJ to get rid of him, because his on field production was making Smith look like an idiot for wanting him out.  they were shopping him before the injury (they had already brought in Rivers as his replacement, after all).  I was working at Purdue at the time, and everyone was all up in arms about why they would want to get rid of the golden boy.  I couldn't get away from the damn story.  But...it looks like they were right.  :)

the panthers will never hand the keys of the franchise to a black qb

really?  do we have to go there every freakin time.  ugh.

The thing I notice about the Huddle is the extreme highs and the extreme lows in regards to the Panthers as a team and the individual players as a whole. There isn't much in between with some of you.

Also, Jack Delhomme threw for 150 without an Ints. Did he receive as much praise in the media for that feat as Peyton is receiving for his? Something tells me NOT!

If Jake's father threw that well, it'd be a heck of a story.

A little early to declare victory on that one. Those of us who wanted Chud gone didn't necessarily want Mike Shula. Chud's offense last year at this time was every bit as dreadful as Shula's is now.

This Forum when it comes to the Offense has a bad case of the Grass being greener on the Otherside and always have, people dont know when they are looking at a gifted horse in the mouth and just being happy with it, I remember all the Fox years and having to watch all of that Crap that passed for a offensive play calling, Chud took the dead last offense in the League and Made it the 7th ranked offense two seasons(last year we were 55 total yards out of 7th place on the season) in a row, after Fox and considering what he took over I'd say that's a Fantastic Job and is why the Browns Hired him out from under us, the issue with the Chuds offense last year was Cam, it was a bit of a growing cycle for him which he grew into over the last half of the season, if there was something that Chud was good at it was creating a scheme that took full advantage of Cam's talents and ran away from his weaknesses, Shula is trying to put a square peg into a round hole, and that's why Cam is struggling now.

I liked Chuds offense because 9/10 he was going to find a way to score on you, it might not be the Payton Manning methodical destruction of a Defense that everyone dreams of but it worked more often then not and was exciting to watch, and unpredictable. Here's the fact Chud gave the Panthers our two most successful back 2 back seasons of offense in the history of the Franchise and people wanted him out of town, do you have any idea how stupid that is?  So until I'm proven wrong which will only happen if someone better replaces him, I'm going to shove this in the face of every single one of you and call you a moron because there is 0 evidence to the contrary.

as I said before some times it sucks to be right and I am but damn dont tell me I'm wrong on this when we got freaking Shula as the replacement.

5. John Fox cant coach.  Yeah taking a team to the playoffs with The Golden Calf of Bristol proved that one wrong.

So sick of people saying he "took the Broncos to the playoffs" that year.

2011 Broncos: 8-8

2011 Saints:  13-3

2011 Falcons: 10-6

2011 Bucs: 4-12

So great. If Fox stayed in Carolina that year and brought us that 8-8 record, we would have been in third place in the division. Boy howdy!

We let Fox go because of all the mediocre 8-8 seasons here. So he took his brand of mediocre to the worst division in the NFL, where 8-8 makes you a playoff team.

i'm even more sick of people saying he "turned The Golden Calf of Bristol into a serviceable quarterback"

yep john fox, well known as a QB guru and offensive mastermind, tailored denver's offense to The Golden Calf of Bristol's strengths himself.

Funny, now that division is legit and the NFC South is arguably the worst division in football, especially considering the incompetent ownership of the Bucs and Panthers making them easy pins for division rivals.
