Frank Alexander vs. Wes Horton/Mario Addison

Who Said What?

Recommended Posts

This Frank Alexander being benched for Wes Horton nonsense needs to cease!  Alexander showed a lot of promise last year.  He plays the run better than Horton and Addison as well as being an excellent combo with Johnson when Hardy slid down during the Nascar package last year.

I was livid Sunday watching Addison getting blown off of the ball on the second half running plays.  I forgot that they were letting Addison get a larger workload because of Hardy's illness.  When Horton, Addison, and Fua are in the front seven becomes real pedestrian.  Every big run came when Addison was in the game.

Alexander has a good football pedigree and was a steal in later rounds.  He showed great potential his rookie season backing up the flashes that earned him co-defensive player of the year at Oklahoma.  Many on the board thought that this kid could be good enough to let Hardy walk or at least give us more leverage.  Now he isn't even good enough to get a jersey?  Rivera has enough of a sample size of the other two backups and it is time to get this kid on the damn field.

Gettis, maybe?

Gettis

He kept Gettis in there until his departure.  If you are an injured WR, you don't get out.  I believe Hixon is going through this at the moment.  Frank lost his cool in the first game, but damn he is a young player.  Hell, Rivera might have cut Smitty for punching a CB if he is this hard on Alexander.  It basically equates to a two game suspension.

    • Denver's GW kick got blocked. Of course it did.
    • I mean he's making NFL throws in accordance with the teams gameplan of being run heavy and conservative with passing.  I should have been more specific and said the "types" of throws Canales is asking him to make. I did not mean he's made "ever single throw".  Nor am I saying he perfect or that his present play is good and we don't have a QB problem anymore or are ready to make a superbowl run. He also didn't throw any interceptions, made a number of clutch throws, good decisions and was one of the reasons we won.  That throw on the second to last series on 3rd down to XL was clutch and a great throw. Chubba fumbled.  XL had an easy catch bounce off his chest.  Bryce missed an easy throw to the flat.  A lot of players had chances to seal the win.
