Is it safe to say?

Smitty hit the wall? He is still a good route runner but he lost few steps and is having a horrible time separating from his coverage... Also drops almost as much as he catches.

Yay another Steve Smith is done thread.  I'm guessing you made this thread because of his easy drop in the 1st quarter?

Every week people are jumping on the chance to critique Smith and he had a great game today. If he makes that dropped catch that's an 80 yard game. He has had some easy drops and bad Cam throws that have cost him his yardage totals. He is still getting open and drawing coverage for LaFell and Ginn. These are not things that show up on a box score.

I'm not trying to call you out specifically but some of you really have no right call yourself a fan of 89 if you are not willing to show a little faith to the main man who has kept us competitive for 10+ years now.  He is not he man he used to be but I thought he looked a lot quicker today than he has in previous weeks. Alot of guys have noticed that he didn't look as in good of shape this season. Maybe he's about to find his grove.

"done"?  no... he's still a productive guy... but he's not the same guy he was even last year.

but he's invaluable to this team.

I honestly think we can win with what we have at receiver, as Cam will continue to build with Ginn and that will help the other guys quite a bit.

Trade him? fugin stupid idea. We will never replace Steve. We would be extremely lucky to draft a guy that could even duplicate his numbers, but I guarantee you we would never get anyone that plays with as much fire and passion as Steve does. The veteran leadership he provides is a valuable asset going forward.
