Hurney purge continues....killing the ghost

We've gone full circle. We did not have the cap space to sign these offensive linemen you think we missed out on by sitting around. You know not being able to sign a player and not signing a player are two different things.

Speaking of circles, seems pretty obvious we're just going around in them here.

Let's see what Gettleman has planned in the coming days, we will find out.

Perhaps you don't realize that we were under the cap, as required, the 1st day of the new league year, and that Gettleman continued to free up cap space all summer long.

Did you miss that part?

Did you know you could carry over cap space from pervious year to increase your cap room the next year?   $18 mil carried over for a new HC and a year to review weaknesses on the team not taken care of through last years draft. Short term pain for long term gain?  Maybe that was the plan all along.  I hope I'm right.

The "plan all along" should have been to fire Rivera this year and get it over with, and begin anew.

Instead, our owner refused to pay two coaches, and we are now in the situation we are wasting a season on a lame duck coach again.

Yeah but there had to be constant moves to get us there buddy. Don't get ahead of yourself. I'm sorry, you gotta clear the flies on a turd sandwich before you can wipe it all off the bread. Our O-line continues to be decimated by injuries year in and year out. You can't control that. We were counting on Steve Smith to be the same Steve when clearly he is NOT. DG is on the right track tho, that much I'm assured of. It's just harder and harder every week to stay excited about this underachieving team

Oh yeah being $16 million over the cap meant there was plenty of cash to sign those two players you're talking about.

Some of what I've read seems to indicate that some of this year's cap saving are likely to be eaten up next year.

Don't know the numbers.

A large part of that freed up cap space was designated to next years cap because we're still not in the clear.

Or the problem was cap hell and it would take more than one season to get out of it limiting what one could do in FA and having to rely soley on draft and cheap one year contracts FA while having a lame duck coach until you can bring in your own HC to restart?

maybe it was a case of letting the draft dictate that for us.  Since we were able to land Star, we fixed the DL first.  I wonder how our roster might look if Star had gone top 10.

I'm fine with the first two picks being DT's.

The problem is we have a young QB in his third season that we have yet to do virtually anything with building around him on offense.

Two lame duck head coaches in three years. What else needs to be said?

So when was the last time you saw a Wr take a game over that the Qb was protected by a "decimated" o-line?

I mean is he supposed to block for Cam AND catch 40 yd burners?

I think we'll see a lot of moves on the offensive side going forward.

Neither of which are DGs responsibility.
